Are you doing the same again this season Ally? You know,
like Ally's Almnanac.

Really not sure. If I could make it fresh enough and not just retread old ground. I guess it depends how successful this one is. It would be a lot of work for nothing if its not.

Just a suggestion, but how about running a few extracts on the front page to get people interested?

Cheers mate. My publisher said it should be back from the printers this week. So hopefully if Amazon gets its act together quickly then they should be sending them out the week after.

Got an e-mail from Amazon saying that Ally's publishers haven't released it yet.

I hope you haven't spent your retainer any time soon Ally. hehe

Retainer!!!? I wish. For some reason Amazon have ordered its copies from a wholesaler rather than direct from my publisher's distributor. So the Sept 28 date Amazon have on their site for the book release is probably when they'll send it out.

Was that any good? I was thinking of picking it up at some point.

I've read all his books now and they tend to become obvious after a while. I'm going back to the Patrick OBrien series of Napolionic Naval Warfare.

Half way through my copy and it's great. I'll write a proper review when I've finished it but anyone who likes Ally's articles on here should get it on order now.

Very nice work My Gold.

My only concern is that you quote me as Rob Parker (45) , bloody cheek :p

He he, there's a story behind that. That part was originally going to be an article for the American soccer magazine I write for. I got a couple of people's quotes on here for it, but then realised everyone was around the same age. So I changed you as the elder statesman to a 45-year-old. :) When the magazine ended up running out of space for it, I thought I'd adjust it and pop it in the book. Totally forgot to change your age back. Sorry old boy.

So if you google yourself now Rob, you are an elderly statesman by default - or his fault.

Absolutely outstanding novels—I try and re-read them once a year.

Recommend you Alan Mallinson's Matthew Hervey series—sort of between O'Brien and Bernard Cornwell (I love 'Sharpe' as well, Mallinson's rather more cerebral).

Amazon are so crap. They've had the books for more than a week. My publisher's distributors delivered them and have the receipt. If you click on my book on Amazon it says they can get it to you in 3-5 days. What are they playing at??
