Meaningless thread but I just finished watching the highlights of the 1981 FA Cup Final and the full match of the replay. Pure nostalgia. Glenn Hoddle was superb in that match, as was Ardiles. At the end of the DVD it also showed interviews with most of the players as well.

This was the 1st ever Spurs match that I watched and which made me an instant Yid.

I love my Spurs. COYS!

It's the game that made me a spur. My dad was on duty so came back with a spurs satchel, programme and THE le coq sportif shirt.
He even had a kick around on the pitch...happy days!

The noise when Ricky scored that winner was unbelivable, my greatest and favourite Spurs memory.

Not meaningless at all. My Dad started taking me more regularly a couple of seasons before, and the promotion is my first real memory of success of a sort. But this was different, the 100th final, first ever Wembley replay, Ossies Dream, first game was so tense and the time flew by, GHs equaliser led to mayhem in e benches that passed for seats, all wrecked, lost me Dad, queueing for replay tix around the Lane for hours, the drama of the Crooksy then late Ricky show, unforgettable. History.

I'm lucky that I chose this match to watch my first English football game. Everything pointed towards me supportig spurs rather than City.

1. The nice white kit
2. The handsome players compared to City's Paul Power, Hutchinson and Gow.
3. Glenn Hoddle's art of playing football
4. The Villa goal
5. The victory

If the roles were reversed, i might well be a City supporter up to this day *cringes

Yes i remember that game, at the time other than Hoddle, Graham Roberts was also my idol - I remember Chris Hughton kicking a few of his teeth out but that didn't stop Roberts - I remember City had a few dirty fuckers in their side.

I was standing behind the goal that Ricky ran towards for the goal. It seemed that he was running with the ball forever. Ive seen some great goals and some important goals and some exciting and beautiful goals but I'm not sure that I ever have or ever will see all those qualities in one goal like that one.

He was running straight (well, not all that straight) towards me. He shot at goal straight towards me. When we sucked the ball into the net and then we blew the roof off the stadium when it went in, that was a moment that supporters live for.

I'd queued overnight twice, for tickets to the final and then the replay. Not everyone was lucky enough to get a ticket. What a joy and a privilege to have been there.

My overriding memory of that first game was standing behind the goal right at the front of the upper tier. By half time we were ankle deep in piss which was flowing down the terracing like a waterfall. :sour:

On the plus side after the game I went to meet up with my Dad and I got to meet Dave McKay, Danny Blanchflower, Matt Busby and Bill Shankley.

When I think about second game I can still hear my Dad screaming at Villa to pass to an unmarked Steve Archibald as he was weaving his way through to score. It was a real slow motion moment.

A lot of todays SC'ers would be moaning about that game.

When Steve, goes up, to lift the FA Cup we'll be there, we'll be there..............

The SF replay at Highbury and Final replay are still two of my favourite games that I went to. The all night queue for replay tickets was awesome :D

I was living in Manchester at the time and was offered 2 tickets by a mate who was a City fan. So we drove down with him and watched the game from the City end. When we scored I had to stop my girlfriend jumping up and down while a lot of Mankers stared at us suspiciously. /when Villa scored we no loner cared about what the City fans thought. That was a fun ride back to Manchester!

Ardiles didn't score though. It was Villa who got the first as well as the last. The whole night was madness and euphoria. I was behind the goal for Crooks' goal and Villa's winner. The Crooks' goal was an even more emotional high than the winner. We somehow knew we would do it when he equalized.

'Thank you very much for the North Bank Highbury, Thank you very much, thank you very very very very much" Loved that game, went onto the pitch afterwards and watch plenty attempt to dig it up. Glorious.
