Remember reading in the summer for Southampton fans criticising poch for not having a plan B. Today was the first time I noticed a lack of ideas and letting the game slip away by not reacting when things were clearly going wrong.
Could he, should he have done more?

Porch is very stubborn. I think he knows he will be given time, and today was a signal that the players need to play his preferred way, as he wont bail them out if they aren't performing.

I get the sense that he's leaving them to fix it for themselves.

But this lot are crap so they won't. We're lacking a player that can drive the team when they're on the pitch.

To be honest he was pretty awful in the remake of the sweeney, but he's written some good lyrics and was excellent in Harry brown so I wouldn't write him off just yet.

Sorry people but think we've got to grin and bear it. Just back from the game and very disappointed with the result. We are very short of attacking threat and pace. We also seem to lack players with a voice on the pitch.

Only criticism of Poch is that he changes players when they appear to show a flash of form. Thought that there was a case for either Soldado or Kane to play today. Think the former links up well whist Kane finishes. Ade scored today and ran around a lot but didn't have enough quality.

We look pretty much how we did under AVB, he's going to get time but if he keeps making the same mistakes the clock will go down faster.

Losing to Newcastle in the situation they are in is unacceptable.

And 1 striker at home has to stop

agreed. Newcastle were utter utter garbage in the 1st half and should of been dead and buried. to come away with 0 points as you say is completely unacceptable

We played a plan B against Arsenal.

But fudge it. A big problem is that this team is incapable of tackling a setback. No matter how minor.
We bossed this game for one half, then we allow Newcastle to score a sunday league goal. Even though we have an entire half to grab the game by the balls again, a single goal traumatizes us to such an extent that we're unable to put a team that had taken two out of 24 possible away points under pressure.

Much work to be done.

He won't get time unless he improves. Should have stuck with AVB or sherwood pointless appointment IMO.
Said at the time of sherwoods sacking, we have to replace him with a top manager or we should stick, we replaced a 6/10 manager with a 6/10 manager what's the point ?

We had our debates on Sherwood (quite enjoyed them too lol) however at this point I still feel that Poch is a better appointment than Sherwood. I say appointment but not necessarily manager because I think had Sherwood kept his gob shut in the press and gave the hair dryer treatment in private rather than to any microphone stuck in his face, he would have had the support of the players and probably most supporters.

Poch looked lost today and the subs were far too late to have any effect on the game. It's a mistake and a costly one too as I feel if he keeps this up, not only will he lose the support of the fans but the dressing room too.

I want stability and hope that Poch is given time to get the team playing like a team. I feel we're nearly in the same situation as we were with AVB and still feel we should have stuck with him a bit longer

Agree with most of that (enjoyed the debates too ). Sherwood opened his big mouth to much to the media and effectively ruled himself out of the running for the job but most of what he said still rings true to me and poch is probably finding this out himself right now.
Now poch has the job he must be back for at least this season and next( baring any major issues) to have a fair crack but I seriously doubt our beloved leader will see it this way and we will have a new average manager this time next season

Remember a stat Southampton had under poch, never won from a losing position hasn't done it with us yet either IIRC. Does suggest he struggles to change things if it's not going his way. Was very slow to mAke subs things today which to be fair to him is unusual.
Seems very rigid in his system of 1 up top which when you are losing at home to Newcastle it's crying out for. 2 strikers

We've been missing that for years, I'm not sure why we can't get that chemistry right. Look at Kaboul, he is one of the worst offenders when it comes to buckling under pressure and doing something bonkers. Not captain material. He has for too long been prone to mistakes, and it has prevented him becoming a top player.

Parker made a massive difference in his1st season with us, man we could do with a 2011 Parker right now

We lack leaders. No one who will grab the game by the balls and, when the chips are down, will fight.

Agree with the poster about Parker.

Kaboul seems too nice, we need someone to scream at the players to get I position, to fight for the fans.

Harry said, before he joined us, that he knew how to play spurs, they had a soft centre so the first thing to do was to bring some steel in there. Capoue is not that man, I'm hoping Stambouli may be.
