Think it will be Tomiyasu and thats that for defence.

Agree, I think Sanchez’s rumoured desire to stay and prove himself, added to Tanganga’s opening day display, it makes sense to get Tomiyasu to cover RB and CB, then call it a day for CB recruitment.

RB. Tanganga, Tomiyasu, Doherty,
LB. Reguillon, Sessegnon, Davies
CB. Romero, Sanchez, (Tomiyasu/Tanganga)
CB. Dier, Rodon, (Davies/Tomiyasu)

doesn’t seem that Rodon has gone to Portugal. Wouldn’t be shocked if he is gone too

Really odd one. Always impresses yet that's 3 managers we've had now who don't appear to fancy him.

I like Rodon but I wouldn’t say he stands out as budding talent or someone to get excited about.

May be it’s a case of we can’t shift Dier and now Sanchez looks like staying too therefore Rodon is the one to make way? If it’s for Milenkovic then it’s a complete waste of money but if we bring in another quality centre back then I can see the justification for letting him go.

Is a strange one. Don't think he has an injury. Just wondering whether he is looking at the situation and feels he is down the pecking order with Romero here and us also looking at another CB. Didn't realise he is going to be 24 in October so from his point of view, he probably feels he really needs to be playing on a regular basis now. Maybe there is some truth in those rumours of Brighton being interested. Could see him doing quite well there under Potter.

Meh, certainly not one to get worked up about, we got our first choice target in Romero and clearly prefer Tomiyasu for that other spot. With Sanchez staying we look well stocked at the back and desperately need to focus on the striker situation.

If this guy was not available for peanuts this summer I doubt he would have had any suitors at all given how much Fiorentina would have wanted for him

Again, not convinced he's an upgrade over Sanchez or Dier so don't understand why we would put seemingly limited funds towards a backup CB.

Not that much interest in this guy but prob would be a good buy at the rumored price circa 15million Euros, Would Rather us look at someone like Alessio Romagnoli from AC Milan whos in the last year of his deal and wouldn't probably go for a huge fee.

Toby was our best CB last season and he has left and effectively been replaced by Romero. The remaining CBs all suffered from mistakes and inconsistency and my starting point is we need to upgrade that pool of three with an additional quality CB. Ideally that new CB should be very comfortable on the ball and in possession. Dier and Sanchez were good against City but over a full season lets not roll the dice.

if we are playing a back four then Tanganga has earns a slot as firest choice RB. Outside of him we do not have adequate cover at RB for a back four. Doherty is not up to it and Aurier is on the outer. priority still remains to add to our stocks at RB and Tomiyasu fits the bill nicely. The bonus is he is an accomplished CB and comfortable on the ball with both feet.

So for me I think we are still in need of CB and cover at RB
