Celtic are preparing a January loan swoop for Tottenham’s Croatian international Niko Kranjcar.

He is behind the likes of Gareth Bale, Aaron Lennon and Rafael Van der Vaart in the midfield pecking order and his future at the club is in the balance.

He has been linked with Bayern Munich and a host of premier league clubs including Newcastle and Everton recently but this loan move now looks the most likely deal. Celtic are willing to pay his 45k a-week wages and he will surely become a regular in their first eleven.

Niko Kranjcar is a great player, technically he fits in the Spurs system comfortably and is an excellent back-up player. There strongest line-up is so good at present, he is normally warming the bench and someone who boosts his quality should be a regular for many premier league sides.

Is the loan move a good transfer for the player himself? Will Tottenham miss him if injuries occur and players become tired? Or will Tottenham cash in for him as he is valued at £6m-£8m?

He will become a great signing for Celtic, Newcastle and Everton no doubt but maybe Spurs could strike a swap deal with either of the premier league clubs. Interest in Steven Pienaar and Andy Carroll has been expressed in recent times. Do Tottenham really need these players though?

I love Niko. He's a fantastic player (except on the right...) and was our top scoring midfielder in the season we qualified for the Champions' League.

Ideally, I'd like to see him staying at the lane and being played in VDV's position when Rafael's unavailable. IMHO he's the most natural fit for that role, and I think he'd do brilliantly and start knocking goals in for fun again.

But... something clearly ain't right as Harry goes out of his way to avoid playing him, going so far as to alter the formation or play others out of their best position just so that Niko's spot on the bench doesn't get cold.

So if it's a choice between him leaving the club permanently, or a chance to prove Harry wrong by regularly destroying defences on loan at a decent club, I'd welcome the latter.

The way Niko has been treated/used at the club is puzzling, he is a arry signing and seemed to be a regular figure last season, dont know why he isnt first choice when things need to be rotated in midfield. Fitness

Kranjcar would be the best player to play in Scotland since Dalglish left. Waaayyy too good to drop down to that level.

I feel sorry for Niko. Unfortunately for him he has had to make room for Bale to play LM. Niko was one our stars of last season and its a shame he hasn't played more this season.

Niko will have no shortage of clubs interested. He won't have to drop to Celtic's level.

Can people stop offering us loan deals. Money up front or f off.

Like Kranky and would like to keep both him and Bentley. Would only sell those 2 if we could get a better player who can play both wings and then only for a decent amount of money.
