I could definitely see some sort of swap. If funds are still limited and futures uncertain, than maybe it's a loan with easy to hit obligation targets. I could also see Mourinho being interested in a few different players from our end. Sanchez (contract winding down) or Tanganga are two that come to mind. Even though they're defenders, it lines up with us getting 1 in at CB, 1 out - as well with Zaniolo.

Then it’s a gigantic risk. Player who’s had a terrible season, has more career yellow cards than goals and assists, done both his ACLs and doesn’t really offer any defining quality other than train-like ball carrying for a fairly niche role in the system of a manager who probably won’t be here in the summer. Would be way safer to sign a fast left sided attacker with 1v1 qualities as we really lack this in the squad. We really don’t need Zaniolo and based on what I’ve seen of him he’s not very good. Everyone talks about past recruitment mistakes but this could be another huge blunder in my opinion. No thanks.

We need players NOW though if we have any chance of making the top 4 and winning a trophy. Buying a player the manager doesn’t want over a player he has identified a clear role for makes no sense at all.

Also it seems up in the air that Conte is leaving, so surely getting a player he wants, that will help us improve and meet our objectives, will go a long way on convincing him to stay.

With his injury record etc., you can see why we want a loan with an option but not a guaranteed purchase at the end. Makes sense as we have enough problems selling off players we no longer deem to be right for the club

Levy looking for the deal constantly has crippled our recruitment and he's own reputation. The selling parties will just play a harder ball game take DJ Spence from Middlesbrough. Our manager didnt even want him however Levy saw a deal and what a mess that turned out to be.

I really think this will be a huge signing. A signing of intent by Conte knowing where our problem area is. He probably seen it way before and hence wanted him before this season even started. So the lack of creativity all these months vindicated he has been proven right if Zaniolo came in and gave us additional outlets of forward balls. Really hoping for this deal to be concluded ASAP..

Contender for most boring thread of all time this. If you don’t have anything positive to say then don’t say it because it’s probably already been said 150 times already

I like him not sure exactly how Conte intends to use him though. If we play a midfield 3 is he going to be the attacking option? Or is he more of a rotation option for Kulu?

I get why one would see it as a risk. Its very understandable to look at his stats and come to conclusion that this could be a disaster. Personally for me tho im really excited by this one. Physically speaking the guy is a unit, I don't see him struggling in this league at all. He's also quick and excellent 1v1 which is why i think he could be a big plus for us. Like you i feel that is lacking in our team. Given the right coaching I think he has a lot more to offer and in our system and i think he could become a big player for us. There is a gamble element to it, its true and yeah it might not work out. I guess time will tell, im fully on board with it tho.

Will be interesting for sure, think we had ITK that Conte feels he hasn't been utilised properly at Roma so wonder if he'll change formation. I like him though, he's a unit and should suit the Prem. Hopefully get it done this week.

Levy, in this and the Porro deal, has shades of trying to sell something facebook marketplace.
you post and say '£100, no negotiation, pick up only' and some wank-puffin will confirm they'll take it then say
- can you do it for £80
- can you post it to me.
- can't make the agreed time anymore
they'll then go quiet for 2 weeks as you repeatedly ask if they still want it before coming back with 'fk you, you've ruined my kids christmas'.

Couple of articles to whet the appetite. First one is pre Mourinho's Roma, and before Zaniolo's star somewhat dimmed.

Kulusevski would also have to stay fit for a start!

Zaniola would provide an alternative as we have nothing for that right side when Kulusevski not available.

Is this guy straight on the team sheet, hmm..time he gets up to speed I'd give it 4 weeks.
