The next man, as well as needing to have football qualities in serving up the side, system, style etc. Given the mess we are in, he needs one big personality to pull the squad together, give them some belief and also to harness the fans. Communication on both fronts is critical. He needs to tick boxes beyond the obvious. Someone who can hold a room, inspire, talk with a bit of clarity and become a leader, give them belief. Factor that into your assessments who you think is the best candidate. Given the pool of candidates, only one provides that….Ange. I suspect he will remind everyone what a club we are. It has become as much a PR job as it is a football coach.

You're trolling surely?
Its like Dory from Finding Nemo sometimes.

Maybe Levy cares too much?
Maybe he IS the smartest man in the room?
Maybe its all part of a bigger move?
Maybe "Manager X" will succeed?

Well tbf we've only known we'd be needing a new manager this Summer for 6 months, and it's best not to rush a panic appointment.

Cut Levy some slack, please.

How can you expect us to have a new manager already when he’s had the Beyoncé concert to focus on?

Reading the Sunday gossip and looking at what’s going on at Bayern Munich I have a tenuous theory that Nagelsmann will be the manager there at the beginning of the season and Tuchel will be the one available. Bayerns politics make the goings on at Spurs look absolutely normal. Just think keeping Nagelsmann on a leash while this all happens is a tad strange.
I was thinking the same thing the other day but the question has to be whether Nagelsmann would return? Their recent upheaval indicates they are willing to change direction and I can definitely see them approaching Krosche in an attempt to lure Nagelsmann which is exactly what we should be doing…

Just talking to Celtic mate, corporate season ticket holder, who was at an event over the weekend to celebrate title win which was attended by some club executives. Apparently all talk about plans in place already for next season.

Nothing confirmed by executives but talk doing the rounds was Big Ange has been offered biggest contract in clubs history, far exceeding Brendan Rodgers wages, with Dermot Desmond to provide significant investment for playing squad. Club looking to get out of group stage in Champions league this season. New deal to be announced after Scottish Cup final. Mate is convinced it's a done deal.

Personally hope he's wrong, think Big Ange would be a great fit for Spurs. Think he'd do a great job for us. Hopefully Joe Lewis asks Kenny Daglish for advice again.

Nothing against Ange because I respect his achievements and talents but if he remains at Celtic, this must be be a sign to the board just how unattractive things are at Spurs given that we have already been unable to successfully land Slot…

If we get turned down by the Celtic manager, surely Levy has nowhere left to go…

You

That’s not how I read Levy at all. I think he’s very much like the medieval kings prone to being influenced by advisors one way or another. Whoever is in his court at the time can affect the way the country goes. I think on things like financial red lines Levy is sure of himself but on all the rest he’s just a leaf blowing in the wind.
If he was influenced by others he'd not haggle over every pound in a transfer deal. He would know when it was uneconomical to trying to hammer down the price any further. If Levy does 250 days a year running the club he's on a hourly rate of just over £1300, he strings out negotiations over days if not weeks, wasting potentially hundreds of thousands and then failing to secure the clubs targets.

He leaves so much money on the table because he's a small man, playing at being a serious business man. He earns ire from the fans yet we are told he's shocked about it (fan/customer sentiment is a hourly/daily reported metric) and by all accounts has a reputation as a chancer within the industry.

Jesus. You can see it happening aswell.

Where does Levy go from there - being turned down by Ange would leave Potter and Rodgers, wouldn’t it?

The haggling and penny-pinching is part of his soul, though. He can’t let that stuff go. On footballing stuff, he’s very much open to influence, is how I see him over the years.

I like Mason but even to the most loyal of supporters, Mason would appear to be a hard sell and big step down from Ange because of his lack of experience…The other strange issue that would arise would be why we selected Stellini over Mason to be our interim manager?
