Matt Law is saying Slot wants full control of the squad.

This might be a sticking point for Levy.

Tottenham will not have it completely their own way if Levy makes a firm move for the 44-year-old.

Not only would Tottenham need to pay Feyenoord about £6 million in compensation to hire Slot, Levy would also have to guarantee him ultimate control over the first-team squad.

Heart says Slot, I want to see a real change of style away from 343 and being overrun in midfield.
Head says Amorim as we have squad makeup a bit more aligned, also I had him at 25/1, albeit only a tenner.

You don't fucking deserve this but i'm thinking of deleting the poll and putting a new one up.

But IF I do, some numbnutted half wit will say "what about" and throw a name out there. So firstly, who do we think should be in the poll and secondly, if you're even thinking about "what abouting" me, you can fuck right off.

So far, my limited recollections are

Nagelsmann
Slot
Amorin
Postecoglou
Potter

If it is to be Amorim then I'd like to see us buy M.Edwards, Goncalvez and add a 3rd technical good passing CM to compliment Bentancur and Bissouma as well as 2 new CB's. I'd also then like to see Spence and Porro as the only 2 RWB options and both given full license to bomb forwards and I'd like to see Udogie given a chance and Regiullon back and those 2 to be our LWB's.

If we did all of that then the style of play MIGHT not be too bad to stomach, if we carry on with mostly the same group of players in a 3-4-3 its going to be mind-numbing again.

But ideally we just go for Slot and back him to shape the squad he needs, if we have a good tactical blueprint to work with where players are closer together we have more men in the middle and we have more of a possession based style then I think with the addition of Kokcu the Feyernoord CM captain, a CB and a LB and perhaps another wide attacking option then we should be able to play Slotball quite easily. Porro could be RB in a lopsided back 4 and with more of the ball he'd not be so exposed so often or we use Emerson RB and Porro as a RAM so there are ways to adapt our squad to Slotball for sure.

Matt Law saying Enrique in the mix.

Can’t see it myself. Too long out of the club game, too big an ego, and little experience of a club like ours.
I think this is just jornos throwing out names now but would prefer Enrique to Amorim, nice pressing passing football.

We could bring Reguillon, Lo Celso and Gil back as they're all exactly the types of players Enrique could work with in his passing style.

I was having my hair cut next to clive Allen this morning.
We got talking about THFC…
He said he had been at the club the last two days and “the view/expectation is that Harry will stay next year, he will then move to Man City in summer 2024 on a free when EH moves to Real Madrid…”
Re manager he said there is a real wall of silence, this last bit is speculation but he thinks DL will hire Rogers, no compensation payable and knows the premier league.

Coming from Matt Law it may have some credence or we still very much in the territory of 'throw enough shit and something will stick'?

Enrique's name again is surprising; he's been out of work all season, surely he'd have been available when Conte left...

Enrique or Amorim would be so underwhelming and typical of Levy's uninformed, short sighted decision making of recent years

My preference would be Slot, though I think the board might be trying to fit a square peg in a round hole as his system doesn’t match our players by the sounds of it and we all know not a chance they’ll back an overhaul even though it’s desperately needed.

Even with Slot being my preference I’d not be upset with Amorim. I think we’ve got two potential gamechangers in Porro and Udogie who he could work wonders with in his system and I’m not sure Slot could get the same out of them in his. Think Amorim wouldn’t need as much of a squad rebuild to play in his image, though would still need a clear out of those who even if they fit aren’t up to task I.e Dier, Sanchez etc.

Knowing us though we’ll piss them both off and end up with Rodgers.

You're right we don't deserve it but we will take it anyway and then take our punishment later haha.

No but seriously a fresh new poll at this point would be great thanks, names that should definitely be on it:
Arne Slot
Ange Postecoglou
Ruben Amorim
Luis Enrique

Others that have more lightly been mentioned:
Brendan Rodgers
Graham Potter
Ryan Mason
Julian Nagelsmann (in case he gets ruled back in)
Thomas Frank
Marcelo Gallardo
Oliver Glasner

Oh and don't forget Richarlison and Gary Lineaker :ROFLMAO:

So from a combination of the games I’ve watched and research I’ve done, it’s:

High line, intense counter pressing when the ball is lost. I think it’s generally a 2-3 rest defence with the 2 CBs and then either 2 FBs either side of a CM or 1 FB next to 2 x CMs. The counter pressing really is intense.

When they are defending generally a 442 structure with the CAM pushing up to press with the ST.

He also adapts the press, in some games it may be super high, in other games he may drop it to more of a mid block press depending on who the opponent is.
Thanks for the analysis. I was also wondering what style of defending he plays. I think the point needs making once again that it is much easier to defend when you have 70% possession. But adapting to a mid block against better opponents or those who have a long ball merchant like Vardy or Lukaku is very encouraging.

And again I'd rather that we win 4/5 games by blowing the opponent away with attacking and pressing and then be frustrated at losing a game to a smash and grab than sitting back with turgid football and still losing etc. etc

On an attacking note - I cannot wait to see team pressing again. Rather than e.g. Kane after a loose ball but 5 secs later the opponent is comfortable because the 2nd or 3rd man was busy checking his laces/nails/hair 😖😖
