You are spot on. Jose and Caonte won trophies at a number of other clubs but have ultimately been maligned by many Tottenham fans as being ' a dinosaur' 'playing boring football' 'having an antiquated system' ' needing to spend loads to succeed' or the classic' not the right fit for Tottenham'.I still standby the point of how mentally weak most of our players are, brought worse by the culture of the club run by Levy, that caused the job of not one, not two, not three but FOUR managers out the door.
There had always been periods where we were so good under 3 of the 4 managers (Nuno just didn't command the respect by the players at all IMHO), we played fantastic football and really playing for the gaffer. But their mentality crumbled at signs of losing and started questioning the manager's methods instead of their own commitment. Mourinho and Conte had both been protecting the players first before calling them out, so I have no idea why this point was always being used to beat them.
With a squad who could listen and buy their philosophy long enough, they will continue to win things with other teams, literally any other teams except us.
Why would we want a manager who fits a team that cannot win a trophy? Surely we want to change from a team that cannot win trophies to one that does.
