we just gave away all possession against a Dyche side with 10 men and then shipped a goal too. The dyche-ball hoof it to the big defender ball and we lost.

I'm not sure what kind of positive juices your drinking but i'll have some of that. Against a side that had the record number of shot and all 10 outfield players having shots in their last match.

This is a culmination of Nuno-Jose-conte ball, pragmatic dosgshit football that the players know is shit but they know that they are at the peak club for their abilities. Apart from Kane who was stupid enough to sign a 6 year deal with Daniel Levy.

The next coach MUST be given time as long as he is a project coach.
I'm not even being positive, I just haven't lost hope that we won't be embarrassed by a team that has won 1 in their last 5, but I guess that this place has become so toxic that that is classed as being positive these days.

Anyone still think it was a good idea having the current two in charge? The supposed 6th biggest club in the world, a financial mammoth with two coaches/managers with next to zero experience running the show, not to mention they were too close to AC to be left there in the first place?
The next manager has some job to do looking at that performance tonight, shambolic.

Brighton are in worse form than us, with just 1 win in the last 5 games.
2 wins, 2 draws and a loss in their last 5.

They battered Brentford, derby win before that, draw away at Leeds preluded by a 4-0 spanking of West Ham to eventually come to a 1-0 loss to Fulham. Not to mention they got themselves into a FA cup semi in there too.

Regardless of who it eventually ends up being, can we agree they should be allowed at least two full pre-seasons (and the accompanying transfer windows, however they may fall) before any serious judgements start being made?

Forgot about the Palace win. So same form as us then. FYI, they drew with Brentford.

I think you also need players who are receptive to what these coaches are telling them as well.

Unfortunately, when the going gets tough, they know they can ultimately get the manager out the door rather than them taking responsibility.
I think this is it. The reality of the situation is we are probably not going to make wholesale changes and most will be here next season.

Absolutely. It pisses me off when people go on about his last 12 months. He wasn't backed sufficiently until his final season, when the whole squad were suffering a hangover from the Champion League final.

Yes, he made mistakes but which manager doesn't? We had some amazing seasons with him.

I loved Poch though it seemed players were not playing for him and the away record was not great from memory.
Though after today would welcome him back with open arms.

GD happy clapper!

I'm pretty much pissed off about everything concerning this club RN but yeah., let's wait and see if Brighton do put us to the sword before we start losing hair and sleep over it. Plenty of time to really lose our shit left in this season yet.

Poch’s best success came with:

-A young, willing, and physically imposing side with fresh legs and intrepid minds
-Two powerhouse fullbacks with incredible pace and stamina, capable of covering an entire flank (Walker is one of the most underrated players of the modern era)
-Ludicrously versatile and technically gifted CBs with 6th sense chemistry and FB ability
-a literally press-immune, all-time great in duels physical powerhouse in Dembele
-a do-everything creative dynamo in Eriksen capable of pressing like a madman and delivering inch perfect passes of every variety, along with excellent free kicks
-a pressing genius and off-ball savant in Dele who ran all day and finished everything
- the most complete forward world football has seen since the 90s In Kane, with an ability to do 5-6 things at an elite level
- a smart, quick, confident goalkeeper
- Heung Min Son who could actually hit the back of the net from time to time

Do we have… any of that?

Pochettino was a revelation in the mid-2010s when the PL was still adapting to pressing football and the various dynamics of build-up from the back. We had a once-in-a-lifetime gifted squad back then… and I credit Mauricio for developing them, but the profiles we had were incredible and gems before top clubs knew what to scout for.

Toby and Jan would be going for £60-70m today as their technical skill and versatility would be at a premium. Walker and Rose literally haven’t been matched as a fullback tandem in dynamism since then. Kane, Eriksen, Dembele are basically unicorns capable of doing multiple things at an all-time great level.

poch is responsible for the best times this club has had in 30 years. He is a very good man, a personal hero, a legend and I will always love him.

A miracle worker he is not. He never solved the ability to deal with deep blocks, he was never good with in-match tactical adjustments, and importantly as the incredible squad we had dwindled, so did our performances.

please do not force him to come manage this shower of shite. We need a full rebuild and the situation is too fresh to appoint him here and expect anything different. New ideas are the only thing that can save this football club.

Yes we are a big club, prestigious name, stadium, training centre, London, Prem League, salary all big draws to any potential new man.

But……for any credible candidate

You’re a manager, surely you’ve got to look at other key things, the group of players which you’ll have eyed up to see if they fit your own vision. Two, what’s the clubs recruitment track record like (buying AND offloading). Three, while likely you’ll inherit a playing group low on confidence, you’ll also know the whole ship appears rudderless, boardroom down.

Massive red flags for any manager looking at us on those points.

You also add in the huge amount of waste out on loan which will likely be hovering around the training ground for most of your pre season causing a stink, and that difficulty to move them on. You’ve also got to churn the existing group kicking up another stench to bring in new with time before season starts. Try and instill your game into that lot!

All attempted with what will be limited resources and know how (see DOF issue). The recruitment legacy of the last 4/5 years all very well discussed will hold us up churning this squad round to something they can work with both immediately but also mid term. Yes, it’s a project, but who will want to come here with all of that and be confident they can make it work?

I’m sure we’ll have a queue of managers wanting to join, but of those how many will come with a genuine confidence they can make it work. Deep down they’ll come knowing it’s a nice pay day, nice surroundings, Prem League. Anyone worth their salt will want to stay clear I’m sure.

That recruitment and churn issue, coupled with the Levy way will be a very heavy burden that we will be carrying around with us for some time. Financially can all those players be written off for peanuts, contribute to a loss on the balance sheet which will impact compliance with FFP, and therefore inhibit further spending? It’s a mess that will defo influence a managers decision to join.

Said it before and I’ll say it again. Why would anyone with any kind of reputation subject themselves to the disaster and certain failure at Tottenham? Until major changes are made then nothing changes. A new manager solves nothing.
This is so wrong. A new manager comes in and changes the system and tactics and things would improve immediately. We hit self destruct against Saints and Everton, not because the players are crap or cowards,, but because of how they are being sent out to play.

All season long we have left ourselves short in midfield. That’s 100% on the manager. We have refused to play certain players. That’s 100% on the manager. We have tried to pretend Lloris can play with his feet. That’s 100% on the manager. We have continually played in transition. That’s 100% on the manager. All of this could change, but it won’t while we have continuity-Conte in charge. Same system, same tactics, same old, same old.

You're right we should've given Nuno 2 full pre seasons before we judged him

100%. So much of this is down to the manager, playing horrible, fear ridden football with no mid-field. So we do the same thing and get the same result. Reset needed, quick fix Daniel concentrate on property stuff and bring in a long-term view. unlikely that he's strong enough to see his own weaknesses though

A few years ago Ajax were a force to be reckoned with but these days they’ve lost their best players. They’re a shadow of their former selves. PSV are average and although Feyenoord look like becoming champions when you look at the calibre of players they’ve have may be 1 or 2 who look decent… as an example they play Jahanbakhsh as a wide forward. Whilst at Brighton he scored a stunning 2 goals in 52 games. I’m not playing down Slot’s achievements but the standard in the Dutch league or the quality of players isn’t what it once was. People will say they turned over Shakhtar Donetsk 7-1, they did but look at the state of their squad and circumstances (war), they’re nowhere near as good as they once were.
Slot uses the players they have. But if he joins us, he is not going to use his Feyenoord players. He is going to use our own players with his tactics, his ideas, his football philosophy.

Like you said, his players are not that good in general, no big names. But they are still challenging 3 trophies this season. The games vs. Roma in the Europa will be interesting and we will see how good he is/his team is when they play against a decent team.

Yeah, I think Carragher and Neville have nailed it here.

Nope, sorry that isn’t on the manager at all.

score a penalty, then automatically sit deep.

then dick around making silly keep ball passes in our box allowed Everton to get closer to us and gather momentum.

then, the mistakes come in.

that is down to the players.

N O manager worth his salt will come to this club, given the playing staff.

mar need a fully new back line, goalkeeper, defensive and attacking midfielders - that’s probably around 400/500 mill in this market just to close the gap quickly - it ain’t ever gonna happen.
