I'm in two minds about Pochettino returning and understand it won't happen, but the idea we are too good for him is laughable.

For anyone under forty, his time in charge represents the ultimate pinnacle of being a Spurs fan.

The only way I'll be at all comfortable for the rest of the season is if we secure a manager and announce he'll come at the end of the season. Others will know if this has much precedence (ten haag?). What I don't want is us wandering into the summer hoping nagelsmann still fancies it. As we saw with tuchel, it ain't done if some other club might come along and nick him.

If nagelsmann says I'm not speaking with you or fully indicating I'm taking the job we should proceed on other targets IMO. Otherwise we risk having a Nuno summer.

One of the positives of this, is we have home games to vent feelings at Levy and the board. Suspect crowd will let Levy know feelings about current situation at the Brighton game

I suspect they won't really, and even if they did it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference.

Yeah but again him saying OK to certain players(and I believe it was more than just Spence) is not the same as getting him who or what he asks for.
No one gets exactly what they want though do they?
We spent money on good players since Conte has come in. I’ll admit we should have got top level centre back in, but even then there’s no guarantees how they’ll perform. It wouldn’t have changed this boring rigid football which doesn’t seem to working.
We’re very lucky to be sitting in 4th if you look back at the games this season how many have we deserved to win? Conte has done a very poor job imo

I would hope, at the very least, that this one, single lesson has been learnt. Just this.

The issue I foresee is if Nagelsmann declares he is ready to sign for us, but it is dependent upon CL qualification. Then we'll be waiting until fhe season finishes before we hear anything concrete.

No they don't, but he is and has always been a my way or the highway manager. We all knew this, the whole footballing world knew this, and Levy should have also known this. To hire a manager you know needs specific pieces of the puzzle and not give him those pieces is straight up negligence, be it by appointing him in the first place if you aren't going to give him those pieces, or to expect a man like Conte to change.

we have a backline of Dier and Lenglet, the idea Conte was happy with this when the CB’s along with the wing back are the most important part of his system is for the birds.

he is a cheque book manager used to working with elite players. He is a finisher, someone who takes a top squad across the finish line. We don’t have that, we need a builder not a finisher. So yes everything that has happened is our fault. Conte is Conte and has performed as Conte, we have performed as Spurs.
Spot on! I would imagine any manager coming in will sign an elite CB as a priority. Hopefully Udogie coming in will be an uplift on LB but the CBS and left back have been a massive weakness for us. Even RB until about 10 games ago was pretty bad. Surprised we are where we are considering.

Conte had us playing really nice stuff last year we were really good back end of the season and the football was nice to watch.

Personally I would have kept Conte till the summer just to make the players squirm and come out of their comfort zone

Thing is mate if we end up with Poch in 6 weeks time it will 100% prove Levy's incompetence considering he could be in tomorrow if we really wanted him.

If we miss Naglesmann and then Pochettino only to end up with Nuno X2 we will look even more of a clown show then we have previously. We literally have two elite ‘’project’’ managers who fit us standing right there. If Naglesmann says no grab Poch, it’s not fucking hard. This club is like pulling teeth.

I mean fuck we even have a back up to that in Gallardo. It’s an open goal!!

Feels a little bit like having the 'highest bid' on Ebay only to be gazumped in the final seconds by a bidder out of nowhere.

We need the 'buy it now' option, not getting our hopes up with 'test the water' offers only to be left with egg on our face.

I'd feel alot better if the board were in unison over securing Nagelsmann and not splintered in different directions.

Oh yes you can. There is a big difference between buying players and backing the manager. It's a bit like during this cost of living crisis the government said "we are giving everyone free access to all theme parks costing us x amount of billions". It's a lot of money spent but it doesn't keep the heating on.
I cannot believe so many people do not understand this.

So agree with Trix's post ! I'd love to know what Dear Leader promised Conte when he was trying to get him to join us as Manager.
