If we want to build something and play the right way and develop players and bring positivity back I’d lean towards De Zerbi or Kompany.

If we want romance and know what we are getting then Poch.

If we want to go a little different but decent manager and football should be better than L.Enrique but will he build something with us? The longest he was at at club was 2 years at Barca, I’m not sure he’s the right fit for us tbh.

You guys need to stop with this Kompany chat. He's had one good season in the Championship after two underwhelming seasons in the Belgian league.

Scott Parker had two good seasons in the Championship with teams that had just been relegated, and got them promoted. Would you take him?

Should we mention that Lampard had a good season in the Championship too?

I really don’t want us appointing Luis Enrique (or any other manager) just because we think it’ll convince Kane to sign a new deal, I absolutely adore Kane but we need to be looking further than that and build a solid foundation with a long term plan.
We tried all this win now, convince Kane stuff with Mourinho and Conte.

Let’s pick the best manager now for Tottenham Hotspur, not the best manager for Harry Kane.
Winning post. At his age any major injury could radically change the quality of Kane's play. Say he's out with something notable for 6+ months next season and the comes back and just isn't the same player. It's unlikely, but it's the sort of thing that can happen and we certainly shouldn't be betting the future direction of the club on it.

Find the best manager for what we need. Kane will either see out another season with us and then either leave on a free or sign a new contract or he'll sign a new contract based on the manager we bring in. In either scenario we need to focus on the club and the future of it.

We all know what will happen if we do get Enrique...

We might as well put in a bid for Ivan Toney as well.

exactly, same applies with Ryan Mason. We don't know if he is any good and I'd rather not let it be an experiment

To be fair Kompany's performance has been dominant, with a team that's drastically changed how it plays: Parker and Lampard both comparatively stumbled into the play-offs/second place.

I can understand why people are sceptical about Enrique. But if he is some kind of wort case scenario, I feel quite hopeful considering the disaster of a manager hunt we lived through last time.

I think it will be Enrique. I think he fits the brief Levy will want and Paratici seems to want him (assuming we are confident re the appeal).

Plays good football ✅️
Big name ✅️
Has won big trophies ✅️

I know we debate systems, tactical nous and playing styles and we think about how coaches would utilise that with our squad and recruitment strategy. I don't think the club will be looking into it as much. They will want a coach who plays good football, they will want a big name for the brand and will want someone successful. I think Levy would feel this is a big name appointment more aligned to the fans demands of how football will be played. I struggle to see the club taking a big risk on someone unproven.

I would prefer other options but I'd be shocked if this wasn't the name at the top of the list.

Also Dembele was key to Poch's team do well as he was the only one who could progress the ball and resist the press
As fantastic as Dembele was at Spurs, we were still very good team even when he wasn't playing.

I mean, I honestly just feel relieved that it seems like our main options for manager are all good ones. De Zerbi, Enrique, Gallardo, Amorim, Pochettino - any of those guys and I feel better about our situation, personally.

I'm in two minds about Enrique.

On the one hand, he's obviously quite the talented manager.

On the other, I can't forget that, on 9 July 1994, I, in one of my less objective (and possibly less sober) moods, spent several minutes shouting

'Fuck you. Fuck you, you whingeing Spanish git. That was never an elbow. You diving bastard. Stop your crying. You're bleeding all over the pitch. Get off the pitch. I said, get off the pitch, with your bloody face, you cry-baby git. Oh, stop with your complaining already. It was an accident, you diving ****. Look, the ref's saying get off the pitch, so go on, fuck off, you wanker. Go on. Fuck off. And then when you get there, fuck off some more.'

And a number of variations on that theme.

Now, in the fullness of time, I've come to realise that, actually, I may have been a touch biased, that it may have been a foul, and that Mauro Tassotti might not have been the innocent he professed to be (as evidenced by his subsequent eight-match ban :cautious: ), but, still, it's difficult to turn it around when you've vented so much spleen at an individual, even if, subsequently, it turns out he may have had a point.

Consequently, I'm pinning my hopes on Gallardo, with whom I have no such history.
