OK. The way we have spun the situation is horrible.
I would rather we be honest and just say following talks we will not be following up.
I am sure we could at least handle that better.
Like others I think Slot is the one.
Whilst i like Ryan i really don't think he is the one. I hope though he is involved in the new team.
Let's see what happens.

Until the fans turn ugly on Levy, things will continue as they always have.

Remarkable that so many people still haven't had this moment of clarity yet lol
Haven’t they already turned ugly? I mean sure the protests could be bigger but stadium chants and bad press is already more than we’ve seen before.

Personally I think he couldn’t care less, he appointed Munn to take off some of the flak and that was enough. I honestly thought he would do everything required to get JN but I’m also not really surprised by things falling apart in the manner they have.

No problem with having opinions on who should be our next manager.

But I don't don't see the point in losing your shit until the new manager is announced.

People genuinely making a case for Mason makes me feel like I’ve woken up in a parallel universe.

Maybe if he’d even been an assistant manager anywhere, I could see a bit more in his favour but as it is, the only plus point seems to be he loves the club and Harry Kane would favour him. (If Harry favours him then he should sign a 4 year contract to support that confidence).

Mason doesn’t even seem to have taken charge of a youth team (other than a one-off u19 champions league campaign which obviously was a very small number of games). Stewart Lewis in the 18s has more experience of “managing” than Mason and they won something!

Yep. I've said it before with regard to the likes of Kompany and Alonso too, that if shit doesn't start well, where is the belief that things can be turned around going to come from? I don't necessarily think that Mason will be doomed to fail, I too have really liked what I've seen, but that's still very different to suddenly thinking he's an ideal candidate after three games in charge. There's an element of risk to all appointments but this one is too large at this moment in time IMO, for a club that is desperate for a bit of stability.

I don't mind not getting Nagelsmann even if he was clearly the most exciting candidate, but it's the possible reasons as to why that are a concern. Hard to be truly annoyed without knowing more of the facts surrounding the decision though.

No club statement. Just a strongly worded, well placed and timed press leak.

It will be interesting to see how Ali Gold plays this one out on his next Pod cast tbh.........

I don’t think it’s at all fair to imply that because Ally has previously said he’s heard we are in for JN that he’s making it up. Or that what he’s hearing now is made up for that matter.

He’s just reporting what his sources are telling him.

As we are often reminded about any information we get from various different sources, things can change quickly in football.

The main reasons I keep coming across is that he speaks well and he's one of our own.

I'm actually shocked at how low our expectations have got as fans.
Yeah while we’re at it why not give Chris Powell the job. And why not get sir les from qpr as the dof if we’re giving out positions cause “they’re spurs” and love the club. We need to raise our standards

Not overly bothered about JN, but as always the way we go about things is absolutely farcical. Levy just seems to seek out new ways to make himself and the club look stupid. I'm still hopeful as there are good options out there like Slot, but it's all feeling very similar to the summer of Nuno and I'm fully expecting Levy to give it to Mason in July after he isn't able to find anyone else willing to work within his ridiculous constraints. If that happens I reckon there's a good chance he's gone by Xmas, his managerial career is down the toilet and we are in a relegation scrap. Sounds melodramatic but I honestly think we are too big a job for a rookie right now.

We need to make an appointment that gets players and fans excited. Someone who could last a run of bad results and still keep everyone’s backing. It is why we need someone like Poch or Nagelsmann. Mason would get slaughtered as soon as we hit a bad patch, which we will as we can all see we need a rebuild.
Cannot agree more with this.....the issue now that we have passed on Naglesmann is that there is nobody out there to truly excite fans.

Maybe Slot is the closest but not exactly a high profile appointment. I am personally hoping for Slot but it does seem that whoever we appoint now, if (when) we hit a bad patch things are going to get very very ugly with the fan base.

Against my better judgement, I often find myself defnding Levy/ENIC on here but we have painted ourselves into a corner on this one. If this appointment does not work things will be grim.

This reeks of Kane endorsing Mason to make this option even palatable

Levy is thinking if I can save millions and appoint a yes man and kane is happy with appointment then its on

Levy just needs Mason to win next 3 games by hook or by crook and the job is his

If he loses next 3 then hello Arne Slot or Ange

If Levy is really placing the next manager of our club on the next 3 games (appointing Mason) then he is even more out of his depth in the footballing realm than we thought.

How long have you been on SC? If there is something to lose their shit on, even if it is based on pure speculation, you can be sure as hell some of these guys will be furiously proclaiming death to Daniel Levy, red faced, pants round their ankles, with steam coming out their ears.

I know. Every transfer window we get linked to players we're almost certainly not going to get then a bunch of people lose their shit because we didn't get them.

It’s a win win for levy though. No fans will boo or moan at Mason at least for a very long time

Really?

The same fans who were singing 'Antonio' long into the night in January and wanted him out of the club in March?

The same fans who chanted for Pochettino in March, but now say 'he's dead to me'?

Tottenham fans have a lot of qualities, but, after all that has gone before, constancy isn't one of them.

If Mason doesn't succeed, he'll get the same 'nice bloke, shit manager, sod off' treatment from the fans as Nuno did.

And Levy will have to act.

Again.

And try to do it properly second time around.

Again.

And no doubt fuck it up.

Again

I really like Mason, but I absolutely don't think he should be our next manager. Kompany is widely expected to replace Pep at City, but he's gone to Anderlecht and Burnley and earnt his stripes. Ryan needs to do the same.

I fear what would happen if we appointed him and then hit a rough patch. Fans are fickle, the good will towards him would only stretch so far, and he'd no doubt be cheap for Levy to dismiss so he'd get even less time than most of our recent managers.

If it was just good vibes we were after, we could have got Poch, who at least also has managerial pedigree.

I'd feel far more confident in us being successful next season with Amorim or Slot in charge, although unless we get the DoF right and a proper direction for the football club, we're probably doomed to fail regardless.

you can’t have been at WHL in the last games of Nuno if you think that’s how his departure went! Those games were more toxic than anything recently with Conte and Stellini.

Ah yes Carlton. One of the thickest pundits ever to walk the earth. He makes Jermaine Pennant seem intelligent. What a plank. They just wheel him out for West Ham games to Make Joe Cole sound intelligent.
