I mean he managed to do that at Celta who were languishing near the bottom of the league when he joined them. In one season he got them playing great attacking technical football and laid the foundation for the club to successfully continue with an attacking mindset after he left.

I know it was a long while ago and it was just the one season he was there but he did change the culture of the club. Doing that in one season with a small budget is pretty impressive and it was what convinced Barca to hire him.
I think that’s similar to where our end of season form leaves us. He’d be a good appointment. As others have said the fact he has managed Barcelona makes him seem like a Conte/Mourinho but his approach seems much different. If we replaced Conte with him directly I doubt there would be much complaint.
Our frustration should only be pointed at one place.

Another manager needs to be left alone and just backed 100%. It will end in tears, as always. At least the candidates being considered won't be as public as Conte about the club's state from the top. :ROFLMAO:

Anyone resigning to fate like I do already? The more this drags on, the more I just feel any managers we get will all be performing to the same level anyway, since Levy is always the bottlenecking element. I am just hoping we get to enjoy the good football after every managerial change for a little longer than we used to before Levy being Levy, things go south and the cycle repeats again. Then until some stroke of luck or miracle happens that removes Levy from the club before I dare to hope again..

Enrique doesn’t exclusively play Tika Taka.

We have enough technical players in the squad to build around.

These points have been made consistently over the last couple days. But please carry on pushing these lazy narratives.
Agree 100%. Anyone who says he plays tiki taka is essentially saying they haven’t watched his teams or know his tactics. Or don’t actually know what tiki taka is. Yes he uses elements of it but like you say it’s so far from Pep or Kompany ball. His ethos is about speed, vertically, width and possession. I mean someone posted a comp video the other page of some of his goals, they do have the intricate passing but it’s fast and direct very different to what City do.

I think any team that values possession will have elements of tiki taka as how else do you keep the ball aside from passing it around. It’s just how the game has developed over the years as high pressing has become more common. But how you pass can be done directly with pace or slowly and methodically. Enrique likes pace + directness and Pep/Kompany like to suffocate slowly.

I completely understand why one would have concerns over Enrique but his high possession vertical style I think would actually fit the PL really well imo.

I think you’re spot on, there is the idea that if you manage Barca you’re a glamour manager. Maybe that’s because Pep came from there but if you look at a list of their last 10 managers I think the average fan would struggle to recognise more than one or two names.

Yeah Enrique has only won the 9 club trophies including the champions league…best leave well alone.

Someone posted his playing career as a reason to hire him. I said that's not a reason. I have nothing against Enrique, i have a massive issue with hiring managers based on playing career.

Your hard on for Enrique is blurring your comprehension.

Enrique might collapse on the first day of pre-season when he sees how bad some our players are with the ball :D
We have plenty of good players, more than Villa probably. Look at their difference with Emery.
things can change very quickly with a different approach.
People say Enrique won the treble because he had Messi, Suarez and Neymar. Still weren’t as good as the team Pep had, nobody says it to Pep. Spain in the euros were brilliant, World Cup crap. But then they don’t have a centre forward.
I just want to watch some decent football

I have serious reservations about Luis Enrique. My concern is that appointing him would be no different to appointing Mourinho or Conte before him besides the style of play being different but even then, whilst we'd have all the ball, his Spain side still bored me.

With that said, I have reservations about all the managers we're being linked with.

Postecoglu - Football philosophy sounds perfect but can he make step up?
Amorim - Young, long term but talk of pragmatic football. Although I must say, the football looked good to me when we played Sporting.
Luis Enrique - As above
Nagelsmann - feels like the safest bet and closest to ticking all the required boxes but there's still just no real suggestion that he's still an option.
Potter - Tentative links but ex-Chelsea again and damaged goods from that spell.
Rodgers - No. Arrogant midget that turned us down before and just relegated Leicester. Football is decent but his teams can't defend.

Someone provide me some reassurance.....

Yeah I think he’s done a bit more than those 3. I mean they’ve tanked at lower mid table clubs. Enrique actually won the big trophies at one one of the biggest pressure jobs.

As a manager for sure. It was more that you were quoting his playing credentials as the reason to hire him, literally no mention of his managerial career as you said you are not that familiar with him.

I have zero issue with hiring him because he's been a good manager, sounds like a decent enough plan to me.

I dont know much about Enrique the manager but he played close to 400 games for Real and Barca and played with some of the best players of that era. His playing credentials are top tier. A man that should command the respect of the players.

I have an issue hiring based on this above.

As others have noted, Enrique feels a little underwhelming only because of who was available (Poch) or still is (Nagelsmann and Gallardo)… The other concerning thing is his relatively long absence from club football and the issue that it seems like a Paratici pick…

I can only support the appointment of Enrique if he is significanty backed! Will leak goals left right and centre if we are to play Dier and sanchez in defence still. Sadly can’t see levy giving full control to Enrique which is why we didn’t probably go all in for Nagalsman. I literally think this is what goes on in levy’s head.

Another thing that lends credence to this rumor is that AG did mention in one of his videos that he could see Levy trying to go for another big name like Enrique so who really knows what the board are currently thinking…

Still holding out for Nagelsmann or Gallardo…

Enrique just does not look like a fit for our needs. Not sure how difficult it is to get a tune out of a squad with Busquets, Iniesta, Rakitiv, Messi, Suarez or Neymar. Good luck managing our depressing squad who I think needs to be build in a longer project. Feels like the excuses "didnt get the quality players I need" would already be out there.

On another side I am completely bored and pissed off that we again take ages to get closer to a solution. Shows we are still lacking a clear direction and clear planning.
