It will only work if a Levy backs him all the way. The good thing is Enrique will not want Galatico type signings.
So it’ll be a complete disaster then. The exact same was said about Conte when he came in. “He doesn’t need superstar signings, just the specific players for his system”
The only positive I can take from the state of play right now, is that none of the apparent candidates fill me with any sort of confidence. So my expectations are very very low. So I might just be pleasantly surprised.

With a lot of our squad now being South American / Spanish speaking, Enrique might make some sense.

who was that other guy we had a few years back, Spanish speaking, was mildly successful? Is he available?

I remember Enrique was a multi faceted player in Championship Manager many year ago, hope he’s a versatile manager too!

ps - has anyone actually heard we have approached him? 🤣

There's little point watching his Barca team

Didnt he also publicly rule out spurs or did I imagine that?

Not by name but he did properly rule out coming to England this summer. But he’s been linked by the press since day one, so there may be interest from our side. But as ever, I’m not sure it’s clear cut at all.

He was mentioned by Alasdair Gold as one of Paratici’s options on 22 March and I’m sure before then too.

and Melissa Reddy at the beginning of March where it sounds like the options haven’t really changed.

I still think this is a misleading stat - we’ve had much more of this time during the playing season. Nuno was appointed on 30 June (mainly because players coming back for training and needed a manager!)

If it surpasses the previous time I’m not fussed as long as it’s in the next couple of weeks.
Understand your point but imo this is worse as we have known since Nov latest Dec that Conte wasn't staying so they've had a much longer lead in time than with Jose to try and get the situation sorted.

If it’s a choice between Slot for 15m and Enrique for nothing and that 15m going towards a vital CB then it’s an easy choice. Our next manager will need big money spent on a GK and CB regardless of who they are, absolutely non-negotiable for me
That 15 mil will go towards his wages I'd imagine. He'll want a damn site more than Slot as he's already got a much better CV trophies wise.

The same would be needed for Ange and Nagelsmann so you could copy and paste your response in regards to most of the managers we have been linked to.

Isn’t the same thing being said about all these managers we’re being linked with? Isn’t it the case with every manager that they need specific types of players bought in order to be successful.
Our squad currently is nowhere near good enough for anyone coming in, so as usual it’s going to be up to one man. If there’s a suggestion Luis Enrique will fail because Levy won’t give him the players he needs, every single other manager you can repeat this for.

We've spend three months chasing currently employed managers, then we've decided to first appoint a DoF, so it's obvious that we will get Lucho now.

This incompetence is getting boring now.

Thanks Trix and I see your reservations but I think we could do far far worse than L.Enrique all things considered so if it’s not Big Ange then I’ll cross my fingers on this one as I think he would be next best.

As someone posted earlier, he could work very well with the likes of:

————————-new GK———————

—Porro——Romero—-Lenglet—Reggi

————————-Bissouma—————

————-Bentancur———Lo Celso——

——-Kulu/Gil———-Kane———-Son-

Then add to that:
-Spence
-Udogie
-Dier
-Emerson
-Sarr
-Richarlison
-Devine

+ 3-4 signings

and you’d have the makings of a nice new project.
🇪🇸
Didnt realise til i saw your line up how much of a spanish speaking presence we had in our team/squad. Add Laporte, Raya and Olmo and the stadium self fill stations will need to be fitted with Sangria.

Other than that, just the mentions from weeks ago.
