Scott Munn "officially" working now according to POK so one would imagine in an absence of another 'here's Scott Munn, our new CFO' announcement, I can see him being the one welcoming the new DoF on board in any promo post/vid.

Almost wrote off the prospect of one coming in after Paratici's involvement and Gabbanini's rise to prominence but intrigued as to actually who this mystery man will be.

imagine that person, in a business suit, does the long drawn head lifting after looking at the floor to the camera like the player intro videos.

I’d love to see us keep Paratici on after his ban, even if it’s in another role alongside a DOF. His eye for talent since joining has been exceptional.

Maybe I’m misremembering, but didn’t he also work in a duo-DOF model at Juve?

I don't wanna start debating the merits of someone , especially when we don't really know whose responsible for what but to add some balance.

Romero, Kulu and Bentancour were Juve players that he did smashing deals on thanks to his old job. Great stuff and no arguments from me there.

Udogie came from Udinese, owner by the Pozzo family who Gabbiani worked for and I'd imagine he also was the one that recommended Vicario as well being that he is our head scout and Italian. Sarr , who knows I'd imagine we have scouts all over , especially France a market Steve Hitchen loved.

I think where we have missed Paratici is his contact list which has impacted sales but in terms of scouting we have teams of them, and whilst I'm sure he helped remember that we have heard all summer how well Ange and the chief scout get on
From when Gabbanini signed: " The appointment of Gabbanini is part of a major revamping of Spurs’ scouting and recruitment departments being undertaken by managing director Fabio Paratici. (He Built the structure) Thats his job.

Funny we’ve heard very clearly that the new DoF will be announced presently but no whispers anywhere in the media at to who it is. Would think it is Alemany but nothing for a few weeks now.

POK said that his source had told him it wouldn't be Alemany, but someone else from Europe.

Didn't Paratici bring Gabbiani into the team? I thought a lot of what Paratici did was to revamp the entire scouting set-up, and re-focus efforts on finding younger players.

The only one who seems viable and we’ve looked at before is Rennes’ technical director, Florian Maurice. Picked up the likes of Doku, Terrier, Aguerd, Badé, Sulemana, Majer, Gouiri as well as taken in a couple of our lads on loan during his tenure.

He did and full credit to him for that , my point was/is I'm not sure it's Paratici who is the one finding these gems except for the Juve one who he obviously knew about.

If Munn was the brains behind bringing in Ange (I can’t believe it was Levy or Paratici given the history of their previous picks) then I suspect he and Ange could collaborate on who the DOF coming in might be. The way Ange was speaking the other day it needs to be someone on the same player recruiting wavelength as him.

Personally, I think Paratici is the best signing we've made in years. I love Ange, he's my kind of manager and I've always been anti the D of F role. But, I have to give credit where it's due, and though, our good results, attractive style and his refreshingly down to earth personailty, Ange is getting most of the attention in the media, I think Patrici has done and let's be honest, we all know, still is, doing a great job.

I'm really confident Brennan Johnson is going to be a great signing and this is despite never really thinking much of him since we were strongly linked with him last summer. At the same time we were linked with Anthony Gordon, who I thought looked like a pile of crap and was actually annoyed we were trying to buy him. He's since been named U21 Euro's POTT and last week I watched him terrorizing Liverpool. I watched Udogie at Udinese last season and thought to myself we are going to need to buy another LB. Sarr I thought was decent, but now I see him as potentially a new Vieira.

As great as the football has been under Ange, his job has been made much easier by having several players in the squad of much higher quality than most realised, hence pundits almost unanimously had us finishing outside the top 6. To be fair, even us Spurs fans, had little idea how good these players were. It was the same when we signed Bentancur and Deki. We've got people at the club now who seem genuinely good at identifying high quality players that aren't being massively hyped in the media etc.

10 of our starting 11 on saturday were bought in the last 2 years. That's pretty insane when you think about it and shows that no one, our fans included, was in much of a position to judge how we'd fair this season, as new players so often need a season to adjust and young players develop so quickly. We were and are such an unknown quantity. But the signs are so positive and I'm not keen on us looking for a replacement to the key man behind our footballing decisions over the last couple of seasons.

I think the most important thing we can do right now is keep Paratici in his "consultancy" role.

So who is finding these players ?
The scouts.

To clarify I'm sure Paratici hired many of them and all credit to him for that. He also hired too many people as one quickly went to the scum because he didn't have a role and his second in command has already gone and ended up in the championship.

I don't think Paratici is all bad but I also think there is a lot more context to it all than the let him cook nonsense I see everywhere.

I'll be happy to move on with a DOF who isn't banned and can hopefully effectively push on with sales and support the scouting team.

Absolutely agree re signings. But he just wasn't very good at identifying and appointing managers. He got the fit wrong on more than one occasion and had he stayed we probably would have ended up with Amorim or Enrique. It would be great to have him continue as a consultant and we are in a better position because of him but shouldn't be in a position to choose future managers.

Paratici has been great in many ways apart from his influence on the managerial hires and our style of football but in terms of re-vamping our scouting set-up and the signings who have come in on his watch he’s had far more hits than misses and a few absolute gems.

Definitely agree he’s no good at picking managers. However, the quality
of our recruitment improved enormous almost from the moment he started in his job, and we all know he was still heavily involved behind the scenes during this window, so definitely deserves a lot of credit.

I could see the sense in promoting Gabbianini for continuity but if not I would rather a DOF who believes in the similar football principles to Ange. That way we’re more likely to continue down this path when Ange eventually moves on.
