Absolutely agree re signings. But he just wasn't very good at identifying and appointing managers. He got the fit wrong on more than one occasion and had he stayed we probably would have ended up with Amorim or Enrique. It would be great to have him continue as a consultant and we are in a better position because of him but shouldn't be in a position to choose future managers.
💯 this.

according to POK will be announced after the international brake, but Paratici is going to be in Levy's ear as a consultant

Hopefully it's just Gabbanini getting a promotion. I think he's brilliant personally.
Would Paratici still have a role for you? I know you were impressed with his work on the structural side of scouting and the youth set up

It would certainly make the situation less convoluted by promoting someone who is clearly earning respect in his role who's already in situ/knows the structure and personnel plus the connection to Paratici who will still undoubtedly be around in a consultancy role.

Scott Munn can bring enough fresh impetus from the top down without necessarily a new DoF on board to potentially complicate matters but perhaps Ange will have a big say in this.

For me, I would keep Paratici around for his (and maybe Gabbadinis potential lack of) contacts? You probably need someone who has good relationships in order to get deals done

I think the danger of keeping Paratici around is you have too many cooks, toes getting trodden on potentially, could get messy.

This is what Munn's role is for though isn't it. He has to decide on what produces a successful structure

Exactly, and Paratici has been used to operating to a degree at his level, and if also whomever the DoF is, it becomes muddled I think. If I was Munn, I'd want my own structure, with my own people, and not a consultant on the sidelines whispering in DL's ear.

From the way Ange was talking, it would be strange. Because he suggested that we suffered a little from not having one in place. And if Gabbanini is essentially getting a new job title would mean nothing much would change.

I think being a great scout and talent ID guy doesn't necessarily mean you're gonna be a great DoF either. More to the role, in the way of networking in the other powerful clubs around Europe.

What we can say from the recruitment is that it's been working a lot better over the last few years, which means we've had the raw ingredients in place. It's now up to Munn to formalise the structure and ensure it's coherent

Why would he be whispering in DL's ear? He's been working closely with Gabianinni (did he not bring him in?) and understands his situation re his ban.

For me the danger is moreso that the new DOF could upset the balance and constitute "too many cooks."

The recruitment setup we currently have in place (at least with respect to incoming transfers) is leaps and bounds better than what had been in place for years before Paratici's arrival. I'd like to maintain continuity to the greatest extent possible, perhaps with someone other than Levy (be it Munn or the new DOF) assuming responsibility for negotiating outgoing sales. If a new DOF meant that Paratici's influence were curtailed, I'm not sure that would be a good thing.

Promoting Gabbanini would be ideal for me. Guarantees the continuity of the current successful setup.

Because DL brought him in, and has been employing him in a consultancy role, if Munn doesn't want him around or whomever the new DoF doesn't but he's in DLs ear because they currently work together then it gets messy does it not? Its all hypothetical anyway.

I'm very aware of what it entails, and I'm also very aware of what Gabbanini's strengths are. That's why I'd like to see him get the job full time.

Based on everything you hear/read about him, I'd wonder if us choosing someone else over him would lead to him looking elsewhere.

Could absolutely see him being promoted and Paratici staying around as a whisperer.

That’s if Levy has him in his ear but also appoints someone new to the role who hasn’t worked with and is very familiar with Paratici.
