Sorry, but plebgate has nothing to do with football or public safety, so it has no impact on whether we would or would not share the OS. I'm not certain that plebgate has finished yet either, if I remember correctly there is a civil case on the go, against that MP!

It has everything to do with the relationship between MP's and the Police though. Never underestimate how petty things can get.
The police in Camden tried arresting a Fire Engine driver because he had a crash on the way to answering a call. The tit for tat was unbelievable. The Fire Brigade tried to get the Police stripped of the right to use sirens as they were not an emergency service. Also there was a stabbing/murder in Kentish Town. The police cordoned off the area and padlocked the rear entrance to the pub I was in, a fire man was drinking in there at the time. He made a call to the station and a fire engine turned up. A fire man walked into the pub with a pair of bolt cutters and cut off the padlock. The police and Fire crew faced off and for a moment it looked like it would come to blows.
This went on for months.

I'm still surprised we aren't going the way of the San Mames, build 3/4 then move.
That was our original set-up. For some reason it has since changed.

That is just unreal. Frankly if thre Fire Brigade were enabling access to the scene of a murder then they could have been arrested for obstructing police or maybe a more serious offence depending on the exact circumstances. However, the police should have put a proper notice on the door. Sounds to me like there is a local clash between the Fire Brigade and the local Police at a working level, that really shouldn't affect matters at a senior level.

Bear in mind as well that the Met Police are now run by Boris & Co. so they would be all in favour of THFC playing at the OS if it will reduce the loss to the public purse.

They said it was a fire exit and couldn't be blocked.

Nevertheless they should still have spoken to the police officer first then the police would have placed someone on the door and prevent access to that door from the outside and, in the absence of an emergency prevented people from leaving by it as well. It's a matter of courtesy if nothing else, and I'm sure the family of the deceased would not have appreciated the scene of the crime being contaminated due to a lack of liaison.

But this is a bit OT, so I'll stop!

Hope that wasn't the time the fire engine demolished the antiques shop on the corner of Jamestown Road and Camden High Street. That was a long time ago! ;)

This all happened about 15 years ago. Can't remember the exact details.

I think the problem is with the roof - we must have a roof over the stands but it's incredibly difficult with a 3/4 built stadium as the weight would be difficult to spread effectively.

Probably talking about the same thing. Used to work for a company in the Lock and was amazed one day to see the back of a fire engine sticking out of the corner of a shop....

I know of firemen that have been ticketed/got points for driving through a red-light and speeding on the way to a fire...

I also know others that have not been charged with drink-driving because they convinced the police-officer they were on the back from a Christmas party at 'the station' (the copper thought he meant police station and not fire station)

Emergency services have long been at odds about who is most important...

speaking to a fellow taxi driver, he told me he took his boy on a stadium tour and apparently the plans are to still play in a 2/3's stadium and that the police have made a stance that it will only be a 56k stadium due to policing issues

Surely we can appeal the police decision. This isn't the 70's-80's anymore. There's still a bit of trouble but it's now a lot quieter and with cctv everywhere a lot easier to police.

Any idea what the policing issues are? Say 56,000 as opposed to 60,000? OK 4000 more people but significant difference to police????

myself the club on these tours are most probably giving out the old info. with the new walk way being introduced from WHL stn, perhaps we might be able to go bigger.

my views on the AS situation, i still believe that a lot of the shops on the main drag might be supporting and help funding AS, though it might of changed with the news of us might be playing away for a season.

the longer this goes on the longer they don't have the upheaval, once the regeneration gets under-way they will be re-located, and i know chick king are not happy as has been shown from clips on this thread, and from speaking to one of the brothers.

No offence intended, Lighty64, but I think that taxi driver is misinformed.

If the police can dictate the size and capacity of buildings prior to their construction, I suggest that somebody should find a way to bring Stalin back to life so that they can do the job properly.

Ofcourse they can, as the fire brigade can. All down to risk assessments.

Do we need to go bigger? We struggle filling WHL for the Europa group fixtures now, never mind a stadium over 60k.
