Thanks. I do wonder if that could be changed in future though. I guess the 1 for 1 system is based on the current ruling. I believe Dortmund actually remove their seats though for all standing games. I'm thinking into the future here really but just thinking it may be possible to increase the capacity using the standing rails and going to all standing. I believe Dortmund has about 65k seated and over 80k standing at theirs. It just shows that it's possible. So maybe that 61k capacity could be increased down the line if we want to jump ahead of West Hams and in the future Chelseas capacity (unless they can also convert to all standing sections on each of theirs too).

I would imagine it could be increased but I think it will a decade or more before we even get to that point. FA will be extremely cautious with implementing safe standing.

Not only that, but the transport links really can't support a bigger capacity. Going by SkyScraper City and inferring from club statements about encouraging fans to stay after the game, we've only swung 62k by promising that we'll be able to get 15k or so to not try and go home straight afterwards. That's already just not going to happen for midweek games or after defeats, so I'm expecting trying to get out to be fairly chaotic or for the club to close exits from the plazas for some time to aid traffic management. I can't see how we'd get permission for even more without either a Victoria Line extension to Northumberland Park, which TFL oppose, or Crossrail 2 being built, which is meant to happen but a) has not yet secured all its funding and b) looks like opening in the 2040s to spread the cost over a longer time period. So I wouldn't be surprised to see us have a bigger capacity with standing areas one day, but it's probably at least 20 years away.

It will certainly take time but it will be good to have that option for the future. We clearly can't add more seats to this design by the looks of it. But the standing terraces could be an option somewhere down the line. I think London in general, not just Tottenham, has some way to go to improve transport. The underground links have been so useful over the years but the increased congestion over the years calls for upgrades. Then you have the ultra low emission zones covering Tottenham in 2021 even though electric cars are still a way off becoming common. I think London will need to accomodate a more park and ride approach in the future with more/better transport links once inside. What we really need is a monorail, Simpsons style.

A conversation that probably happened.

Someone from the PL: Listen up highly lucrative brand spanning several continents that is one of the six intrinsic reasons our product sells for billions of pounds in global rights. We need to be seen to be fair to the rest of the league. You tell us when you are ready to move into your new stadium and we will publicly...

Someone else from the PL: Matt Hughes will print it...

Someone from the PL: ...give you an ultimatum to make it seem like we said enough's enough, it's now or never.

Somebody from Tottenham Hotspur Football Club: Okay, we are ready to host the first game.

Someone from the PL: Can somebody get me Matt Hughes' number please?

This is the crux of it, we haven't even got safe standing in the Prem yet, I suspect it will come and we will be a test ground as we've got the safe standing seating rails all in place. There's no way they will jump straight to increasing capacity from the beginning though.

I've not noticed the Spurs ladies tickets on the site before. Available Sun 24th and Sun 31st at 'Cheshunt'...

Surely viable as tests in the new gaff followed by showing the Liverpool game after the match on 31st. I'm guessing not though as tickets are available to buy now, but one can hope!

Ladies team tickets have always been on the ticketing site.

I think 62k is perfect for now. The only time we need to think about going bigger is if we start racking up PL + CL titles.

They don’t remove them they lock them in a upright position the same as we will.

I'm inclined to agree, lets go a few seasons of selling out regularly before we get in to increasing capacities....we're not even in the stadium yet!!

I don't suppose anyone can answer this but what's the expectation with the test events in terms of how you can attend?

Is it likely that it will be some sort of ballot or like a first come, first serve online application type of thing? Assuming entry will be free of charge as well?

I nearly got a membership this season (glad I didn't in the end) but certainly will look to do so for next season. With that in mind, it's highly unlikely i'd manage to get any tickets for premier league games this season (on general sale) so I'd really like to be able to get in on one of the test events.

I think at least one of the events will have a capacity under the amount of ST holders we have so probably another ballot, even if both were full capacity I'd be absoluely amazed if they go general sale so you're probably out of luck mate.

Really don't agree Nick. I reckon there will be a 50-65% take up for the test events from ST holders for the 'full capacity' game. Given that there would also be 3k 'away' fans that won't be going I'd expect there to be quite a number of tickets available. 60k is a lot of people for a non competitive match.

I believe someone mentioned that the first event would be 20K-ish and the 2nd would be close to full capacity.

So much in our immediate future relies on Millwall. If we get drawn at home in the first leg, and Brighton win, it seems we'll have to play it at Wembley as UEFA aren't having us playing the QF in an untried stadium.

My expectation, based on stuff I've read, is that one event is around half capacity so maybe 30k max and then the 2nd event will be full capacity.

You'd expect the legends game to be the full capacity one and an U23's game for the half capacity.

Totally understand ST holders getting a first shot but I was hoping that it would then be made available to general public losers like me as well and it would probably be a ballot after an online application. They're not gonna charge us for test events are they? I mean I suppose I would pay but I just figured being a test event it would mean that they can't really make people pay and so it has to be via applications/ballots.

People would be a bit disappointed, but seriously, a potential CL Q/F at a full capacity Wembley really isn't something to moan too much about.

Someone needs to go comb through the old Harry Kane to Millwall loan agreement paperwork. Maybe there's a clause in there that will allow us to send him back to Millwall for this one match?

BORRRRRRRIIIINNNNGGGG! Change the record.

No idea why my post deserved this response. There are very few clubs in Europe that have a 70k + stadium and those that do are the established elite European teams. We are currently in the 2nd tier behind the elite. If we get taken over buy silly money and start showing real ambition in the transfer market then fine. Or if we find another way to win trophies then fine. But as of right now 62k is fine imo. Wembley has shown that people can be very fickle when it comes to going to football.
