Bollocks. There is not a single "dig" at Tottenham in that article. A recruitment agency went bust and Spurs are being asked to cover the lost wages. No criticism of the club whatsoever.

I'd agree with you, but would add that I think the sub editor is playing tricks for clicks with the headline.

Nothing you wrote disagrees with what I wrote.

At the time when we would have won the bid, had we won it, yes, Levy would have gone there in a heartbeat.

But the business about the transport links, etc., while true, was mainly a statement to reassure the Olympic committee that we were serious.

As I wrote above and we agree, "it was not a ploy, it was dead serious". Nor was it a bluff. It was the only available option, other than staying in a 36k stadium indefinitely.

sorry i meant to write that where we differ is that I believe it wasn't a "desperate measure". I think it was well-considered, including the aim as a bidder to try to constrain West Ham's scope if they won. I'll get a coffee down before posting when hungover in the future!

Pinch of salt and all that but for what it's worth, there's a poster on the Spurs subreddit who correct predicted yesterday that we would be announcing an event on the 16th who has just posted an update. Here's what he's said:

"MACE would not confirm dates today but did express 'a high degree of confidence' that all safety certificates will soon be received ... tests are not yet complete, but the critical areas that previously failed have apparently now passed.

After the small event on the 16th, we will be required to complete two official test events probably 30,000 and 50,000+"

hertyid: It's 20k and 40k but otherwise he is correct.

So how does that work if we don’t get 20 or 40 into the stadium? Like what if the 40K event only draws 30K? Would they have to do another one?

Trying to figure out what kind of event will draw 40K...

Getting incredibly excited now. Can't wait.

Indeed so. More and more of the wooden boards that have covered up the flooring are being lifted and taken away each day, signalling completed work in those said areas. By next week the south-to-west stand cladding should be fully completed and the podium mostly cleared.
Im hoping they will look to blitz the east side cladding.

The original 40k test was a legends match against bayern munich.

Not sure if still an option to have it as a test event

I don't think attracting 40k people with cheap tickets for the first or second game at a brand new stadium will be difficult at all. I expect the problem will more be people annoyed they can't get tickets!

Wow really? There are HUGE amounts of people who have followed this build from when it started on a daily basis. 40k will be no problem even if its for a look around at our NWHL....these are pretty historic and exciting moments right now. The best stadium in uk by a country mile and in the top5 in the world surely?

Probably correct. Just a hypothetical IF it were to only draw 36K then what? Redo?

Without knowing id have thought that their is some kind of percentage of leniency and tolerance in some way. So perhaps 40k +/- 10% so we would be allowed anywhere between 36k-44k.

Not 100% on this. But I think that area to the left of the staircase (far right of the picture) is one of the 1882 sections, so might be about segregating that off from the 'normal' seats above it?
