Kane is the undisputed numero uno up front and unless Poch start playing with 2 out-and-out CF I can't see Benteke joining Spurs to play Euro league and Cup games.
Yes, I know Kane can get injured during the season but £20-25M for an understudy is not how Levy conducts his deals (yes, Soldado cost that amount but he was not meant as a understudy when he was bought).

I completely agree with the sentiment. The challenge for us is signing someone good enough to push Kane hard and keep him improving whilst also getting enough game time for themselves.

I do also think Kane is versatile enough to play in behind another main striker like Benteke but doubt we'd be spending most of our cash on this area.

The boat sailed on this one a long time ago, its pointless having both Kane and Benteke in the same team.

He's a gooner and stupid man who thought Aston Villa was in London. He's not Tottenham material. ;)

But I understand why he needs to move to a bigger club. He was yesterday news until Tim Sherwood arrived, so he might feel like this is the last summer he can get that big money move.

Kane can't play every game and if he was to get injured I wouldn't want to rely on Adebayor or Soldado to step in. Benteke would probably be the best of what we could aim for and the Belgians in the team could help us get our man. I don't see why Kane and Benteke couldn't play in the same team either.

Out of Benteke and Martial, Martial would be the sensible decision.

Cost, age and expectation of Martial would make sense.

Personally I would give Oduwa a chance next season as an understudy but we do need another if we are getting rid of Soldado and Adebayor.

We definitely need another striker, but as others have said I can't see us moving to two up front, and neither Kane or Benteke can play the wide forward role, so not sure how we'd accommodate both of them.

I'd imagine the other striker we need will be someone who wouldn't expect to be starting every game, or someone who can play in the wide role as well. That's probably why Martial would make sense.

I like Bentekke but he isn't for us, Kane is number one, no moving him into the hole, keep him up top thats where he is his best. We should be looking at someone who can play wide and cover the CF position, thats why I think Martial is the more sensible choice. Lets not do what United done with Rooney, play Kane where he should be played.

We can't go into another season with only one striker, Kane had a great season, but what's the point of bringing someone in who's no good?

We need to bring in someone who can score, not provide cover. Players play their best when there under pressure to perform, ala the Rose and Davies situation.

Whether it's Benteke or someone, they have to be top draw.

Kane is number 1 but you never know if he'll produce the same next season or whether he'll stay injury free so we do need something to bolster the strike force if we are going to have similar attempt at top four this coming season.

What I'd really prefer is Adebayor to land back on earth and show up for ten or so goals next season..... Can't see Benteke being that much of an add unless Ade goes and Benteke doesn't mind sitting out a few games.

I agree they need to be qaulity but I do not want someone who "expects" to start, Benteke will expect to start every game. We should be doing our best to develop Kane, Poch should be saying yor my main man go do what you did last season. Id rather we signed a good prospect than someone established. Paul Mitchell has been brought in for a reason.

I like Benteke and he is a beast of a player but I feel this could work out like the Bent signing. He's playing for a lower team and is perfect for the style of pump it up and let him use his pace and strength to bully the defenders and capitalise on any slips or errors. This just isn't our style and we need someone with a bit more finesse so I worry we could end up with another expensive error if we pursue this one. I think he is very similar to Lukaku and this may be the reason Chelski let him go, even though he done so well in his loan stints at lower teams. Then again, what do I know...

I think they could form a partnership with Kane 10, Benteke 9.
Kane has got the work rate to drop deep and fill in when needed. If that partnership clicked it would be beastly.

If we could land Villa with Ade and get few million off the price it could be good business. Unfortunately I think Ade is approaching the "wouldn't touch him with a barge pole" stage.

I'd love both to be honest. I'd like to have a quick forward to compliment Kane. Sturridge is proof that it can be affective.

As long as Kane maintains his no.9 position... I like him there. They can compete but I don't want to see Kane bring shuffled about to fit someone else in. Let them compete for one place.
