We’ll be waiting for a long, long time if we expect our money back.

Besides, we simply can’t afford to let him go in Jan. Wanyama is only just back from a serious injury, Winks has had fitness issues and Dembele is made of glass.

Yeah, I doubt we'll be selling him until at least the summer.. maybe if he has a good World Cup for France - which is totally possible - we will be able to get our money back? We need a seriously good CM, it's the one weakness in the spine of our team. I'd also like the Sess bros, and a Mahrez/Fekir type of player. Really like Fekir, reminds me of Hagi, who was the Romanian we SHOULD have signed.

Never mind the £30m fee, who is going to offer him his rumoured wages of 80k a week? I suppose if he has a great WC in the summer anything's possible.

I agree. I cannot fathom why a) he started him in central but more importantly b) when he saw that west ham had come to camp in their half with a 7 man defence why he didn't change formation as we didn't need 2 deep CM and sub sissoko (who was not involved at all except for passing the ball backwards and into touch) and just have a single DM with a 5 man forward block

The only reason I can see with Poch persisting is that he was a player that Poch wanted - i.e. Daniel didn't go off piste and buy him on a whim. When has DL ever thrown 30Mil just like that? One can only assume that the team scouted Sissoko purely on his 2 games on us the season before and then how he played for France at the Euro to explain why we went for him. Pcoh himself said early/middle of last season that the Sissoko we had in the squad was not the product he thought we were buying.... i.e. they did not do their due diligence. This one is on him and his team and so he has to do everything he can to make it work?
He was a Levy buy: Poch was on holiday when it occurred; Levy thought Poch could improve him.

Personally I blame him for their goal. Shameful closing down (or lack of mores the point) and when he finally realised it might be a good idea to try and put pressure on the ball it was some limp dick kind of effort of half sticking out his leg.

He’s done it before with closing down and it’s cost us (can’t remember what game though) why it pisses me off when people say he always puts in a good shift coz some of his effort is half arsed. We all know technically he’s shit but he’s a big old unit so it’s not to much to ask for him to put it about but he doesn’t, really.
So, what was Sanchez doing when he stuck his leg out? Oh, hang on, that fucks up your limp argument, doesn't it?

Yeah cos it's impossible to talk to someone on holiday.
Well, apparently that's what happened. It's not as if Levy hasn't done that before, e.g. He bought VdV without asking Redknapp, who may have been doing his taxes (EDIT: A clear mistake as Rosie the Dog did that).

You're saying Levy bought Sissoko without Poch having any say in it?
I don't know where I read it, but it was recent and apparently that was what Poch said. I stand to be corrected. Poch probably gave certain qualities he wanted and they went for Sissoko, who'd had a good Euros. He played in the French National team that got to the finals, you know the one in which England did fuck all in.

Doesn't really narrow it down ..
No, it doesn't; but the point was that he was chosen in a clearly successful team and wasn't a sub. I must admit that I was surprised by his displays and so maybe his form at Spurs has to do with confidence.

The thing is that everyone bangs on about Sissoko's poor shooting and passing, but they say nothing of the crap that's served up not infrequently by Dier. Furthermore, Sissoko doesn't get caught out of position like Dier does. So, maybe Poch has liked what he has seen from Sissoko's graft and mental fortitude.

I have also just seen the same thing on another fan forum, ie the bit about Levy buying him, not The Sun comment.

Yeah fine but, that's about Levy buying him, not Mitchell. Is there anything to say Poch had no say in it?

"According to The Sun". Also says Levy wanted him not Mitchell.
The only thing about that is that Mitchell will have contacts in the media who will have defended him, very much like all the backing that Sherwood gets from certain elements.

So there isn't anything that says Poch had no say in it.

At that time, I think Pochettino's influence may have been less than it is now. Remember that when he started he was referred to as head coach and then it changed to him being the manager.
