I hereby bring a hex down on @LewishamCouncil & Renewal their greasy vampiric partners. May you be ill. May you have cancer as I had cancer.

The fans have also had their say....

I do, and I know they have a connection, but I have a lot of friends and family with connections to Millwall so I just can't bring myself to dislike them.

I do like the old school feel to the club etc. Without the racism of course...

They're a toothless throwback with a few knuckle draggers. They also hate the Spanners more than anyone, which is nice.

Same. I married into a Millwall family (Wife from Peckham) and they all like Spurs. I've always been made welcome over there and they love talking Spurs.

Good crowd on the whole.

Done its job I suppose but ye what a ****.

I don't agree with his use of words but he is frustrated.

How angry would we be if Mr Levy had not been able to build our new stadium and Haringey council had instructed compulsory purchase of all the land around WHL so that the football club could not operate or expand and had to move to Essex? I think all of our language would be emotive. Shame on Lewisham and the silence from the London Mayor is deafening. Football clubs are the soul of their community. No club should ever move from their local area. Woolwich scum and Milton Keynes are great examples of why:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

In a nutshell. When Millwall moved to the New Den a few years ago they also bought a parcel of land that no one else wanted, adjacent to their new stadium.

Since then gentrification has come to Bermondsey.

A company called 'Renewal' applied for planning permission to develop the land for housing, requesting a CPO against Millwall.

Renewal was founded by a former Millwall director, later to become Mayor of Lewisham. He was asked to step down from the Millwall board when the extent of his property interests around The new Den became clear. He then reportedly sold his shares in Renewal to an off-shore company based in the British Virgin Islands, the owner of the company is a resident of 'tax efficient' Isle of Man.

When questioned about the sale of his shares, the founder of Renewal is reported as saying “Yes, I must have sold them.” Because the company is based off-share it's almost impossible to glean any information about the full ownership of the company. Lewisham council have said the ownership and/or status of Renewal is irrelevant.

Millwall has submitted plans of their own to develop the (their!) land, but it looks like Lewisham council has favoured the mystery developer who stands to benefit from public money, while evicting Lewisham council residents from their homes and undermining the area’s outstanding community asset, Millwall FC.

Millwall's community trust currently occupies the land threatened with seizure. For the past 25 years it has worked with local people, mainly children, the elderly, and the disadvantaged, saving Lewisham council an estimated £7m a year in care and services.

Funny how things change, back when Millwall were a top-flight team, Lewisham Council were proud to have their logo splashed across the front of their shirts.

They also assisted Millwall in building the new Den when the old Den was sold off - ironically for housing.

They may not have the most sophisticated of supporters but I do feel sorry for Millwall.

The banner seems an understatement..

Bloody hell this absolutely stinks. Lewishams own scrutiny committee has questioned the 'murkiness' of the whole situation, local backbencher are against it and the council leaders are still going to try and force it through. I can see this being tied up in the courts for a long time

If this goes ahead, there'll be a London borough with a population the size of Iceland left without a professional sports club of any kind.

And while this is happening in a Labour controlled borough, Sadiq Khan remains strangely silent.
