Thought he was alright tbh. Don't know how much of that was just in comparison to the shocker that Japhet was having, but looked alright to me. I still think he might turn it around with the right coaching.

I hope so. That would piss a lot of people off though who would have to eat a lot of humble pie. Personally I thought he did alright but nothing special.

He really that good today. He was still pretty rubbish, just perhaps not as rubbish as normal. The guy isn't up to it and never will be, good performance or not.

Encouraging to see him look like a professional footballer again. A few more performances like that would make it a lot easier to find a loan-to-buy move in January, which is probably the best option for everyone at this point.

He looked like for the first time, he knew what to do with the ball and didn't look lost, was refreshing

Awesome! If he keeps this up and we can fool another team to take a punt on him January. We need a more athletic RWB option.

He did alright, better than his usual dross. Played a part in Son’s goal but that was by accident as opposed to intent. Not long after he came on he played a ball to no one near the half way line and then later on he again hoofed the ball to the invisible man in Norwich’s half.

I would give him a 5, may be a 6 at a push… better than his usual car crash performances.

We do however have to remember this was against ‘Norwich’ and their main threat down their left flank was their ‘full back’. Doherty against a decent attacking left sided player and he would have been roasted as usual.

That fullback was roasting our defensive right wingback for most of the match.

Well Japhet was getting absolutely tortured by Williams until Doherty came on for him. He also got forward alot and could have had an assist or two but for better finishing, he was also involved in the build up to our 3rd goal, so yes in the little time he was on he made a positive impact and don't remember him putting a foot wrong.... imo

Doherty is the only RWB in the entire squad. This is unfortunate due to Doherty being a shadow of the player he was for Wolves but it was apparent how much better we looked when he replaced Tanganga.

It's definitely a problem position as Tanganga clearly isn't a RWB and Emerson seems unsuited to it so we'll need to buy someone asap.

I've been a critic of Doherty, but he played pretty well and we looked much better down that side once he was on.

It's almost as if playing as an attacking wingback in a back five is his natural role.. That's what he was at Wolves when he produced his best form. We tried to make him a defensive fullback. Took his best qualities out of him, destroyed his confidence in doing so.

He was head and shoulders above Tanganga, who was getting rings ran round him by Williams.

Doherty coming on gave us control of the right flank for the first time in the game, it’s no coincidence that that’s where both of our 2nd half goals originated.

Norwich’s two full backs (along with Gilmour) are easily their best players. In fact they’re the only decent outfield players they had on the pitch yesterday. Doherty and Sessegnon did very well dealing with them.

I was at the game and I thought (as did everyone around me) that Japhet was woefully inadequate yesterday as a wing back. When he burst on the scene and got into the team he made pacy enterprising runs forward and when he was given a licence to thrill yesterday he seemed overwhelmed by it. His unwillingness/refusal to take his man on was baffling and frustrating. Time and again he had situations where he could push and run but each time he stopped and passed back or inside.
I never thought I would have heard the words coming out of my mouth but I began to bang a drum for Doherty to come on in his place. A natural wing-back, average in a back four but with the experience and confidence to play the wing-back role properly. When Conte came to the same conclusion I was very pleased and even more so with how Doc played. Straight away you could see the difference in the positions he took up and both his willingness to get forward and his effectiveness as well. His pass to Kane led to Kane's shot being saved for a corner which Sanchez scored from. He then continued to offer an option on the right and keep us on the attack. This formation is tailor made for him and if he can rediscover his Wolves form he can be the player we were all so happy to land last Summer. Tanganga is IMO fighting for a RCB spot because on yesterday's evidence he is no wing back.

Or your pre conceived opinions, are over riding your judgement on this one individual performance?

Whilst it wasn't a ten out of ten cameo it was certainly a good one.

Credit where it's due, he had probably his best game for us (which is a very low bar). Whilst he did OK, he'd still be right up the top of my 'sell' list. Maybe a few more weeks with Conte detailing what he wants might change my mind though.

He has been a woeful signing but everyone should start with a clean slate under a new manager. He is the most natural RWB we have at the club but Royal is clearly ahead of him and first choice, rightly so as he has been solid so far.

But I wouldn't be against seeing more of Doherty at RWB, if he can find any sort of form he had at Wolves, we would have someone in the squad who could whip a dangerous cross in, maybe get Kane scoring headers again.

Busy winter period coming up so a chance for him to get some games, I hope he can do well and prove us all wrong but it would then eliminate the need for us to get another RWB next summer, if he could step up and show he can rotate with Royal.

gosh people wanting to give doherty a reprieve after an OK 30 minute cameo (it really was average at best, just seemed better cos it was compared to doherty awful standards), after 18 months of the worst footballing ability I have seen in a spurs shirt, and a joke of performance 2 weeks ago in slovenia, we really have awfully low standards
