I really like Sabitzer and I've always banged on about needing two #10 creative type players in the team (in addition to a b2b player who could also pass better than Dembele, which we have now). While I think Sabitzer is probably a better fit than Lo Celso for the #10 spot I don't think his addition would change much of anything with the way this is going. It would likely just mean Ndombele & Lo Celso would be on the bench and still Sissoko & PEH starting every game in midfield.

Sounds like a good summary that of our expected (or not) activity this window. Personally I can’t see much happening bar a few outs. Would like Sabitzer though definitely.

If we do sign Sabitzer I hope we switch to a proper 433, with Hojbjerg sitting 2 in front and a genuine front 3. Unfortunately I can't see Jose changing and we will end up wasting our attacking talent.

He can play 3 positions really well, including deeper in midfield.

What he adds over the players you mention is goals.

Would be an ideal Sissoko replacement. Would be capable of covering the space left in transitions but also give us the ability to progress the ball from the back (unlike Sissoko) and can score goals/take set-pieces too (again, unlike Sissoko). Also captain at Leipzig so another big personality in the group.

Having said that, I doubt we'd be able to get him in January given his captain status and Leipzig's form. With his contract up in 2022 the summer is probably the most realistic option.

Nope. We literally cannot sign him unless a non HG in both our PL & EL squads exits. So Dele has nothing to do with him. We still have to get Rodon into the EL squad as well. There will not be any signings this window unless its an HG one and/or theres a surprise exit.

At this point in time, sabitzer is a much better player than dele. Not to say with a change of scenery dele won’t find form somewhat close to 2017, but he hasn’t really been doing enough for 3 years now. Sabitzer is better defensively, is much quicker and more mobile, is a much better passer with much better vision, and he adds the goals that dele was currently giving us since 2017/18. It’s a sequence of business I’d take in a second.

I was talking more from the budget /wage perspective. You're right though that there's a HG issue, but I don't think it's insurmountable. It just means leaving someone out of the squad.

Well we can, we just wouldn't be able to register someone else. I'd be perfectly fine registering Sabitzer over Lamela for Europa, and idk who else for Premier league, but it sounds like Gedson will be off so theres a spot there. Wouldn't be surprised to see Gazzaniga off as well. I think you could make it work.

Add-in very two footed, very energetic and versatile. It would almost save us having to use a sub if we're looking to get a goal, Sabitzer can be effective in the attacking third and if we're trying to sit back and hold a lead ( ) Sabitzer's high energy and good defensive positioning can also be effective.

There was confusion when we bought him as to when the rule about the teams from Wales playing in England was changed.

If we do get Sabitzer, I would remove Lamela from the EL squad and also replace Rodon with Sanchez. I love Erik but he's one injury away from being out for another 1-2 months and it would be a waste to have someone of Sabitzer quality unavailable for the EL.
