Would be a perfect example of who to spend our newly found wealth on. Assuming he'd fit a Conte system?

Seems Barca will have to sell and he'd rather stay in the CL. Worth a look for sure. I bet Fabio has at least enquired.

We could have Frenkie De Jong and the English Frenkie De Jong (Skipp) in the middle for years to come!

He wants CL football, you'd have hoped we'd be in for him too. We need some extra class in CM.

The one thing I'd love this summer, is for us to announce a mega deal out of nowhere. I know Bastoni will be excellent, but really pull off a major signing, someone really elite and a big name would be awesome.

I suppose Bastoni does fit that criteria, but I mean like a De Jong or someone.

I think it’s exactly what we would do if they decided he was the one. Paratici isn’t going to roll over for Man Utd just because they are willing to spend. He’s just been handed 150m on top of other player sales and anything else we likely would have spent. He likes a free transfer and has already brought in Forster and Perisic. Eriksen could follow. But then he is still left with all that money and I’m not sure how most spurs fans would feel if there was an injection and we didn’t actually go ahead and actually compete for the big signings.

Having said all that, there is nothing right now to suggest we have any interest in Frenkie.

I might be one of the few, but I genuinely don't care about getting a big name player in.

I care about getting the right players to fit the system, and give us squad longevity along with improvement.

Obviously an elite player might fit this criteria, and good on us if we do sign someone of that ilk.

But it's not a huge deal too me as long as we get in players that improve the team and keep Conte happy, I'll be delighted.

Would so love this guy. If we're not already in the running though I suspect we're not interested. Barca are making so much noise about him being available I'm sure behind the scenes it's been known for a while so if we were going to make a approach it would have happened.

De Jong was fantastic at Ajax, and pretty good on occasion for Barca, but I don't know that he'd fit Conte's system as well

Milinkovic-Savic, don’t be surprised to see his name being linked to us in the next few days.

paratici is really cooking if we get him for the £59m that is alleged.

I agree, but in this case I think De Jong would be near perfect for Contes system. He works hard, is very versatile and can play as an 8 or a 6, reads the game really well and still has a lot of potential. In my mind he’d be absolutely perfect for Conte especially considering how important Brozovic was to him at Inter.

I can't really fathom the Frenkie de Jong love-fest here... When I look at him I see a one-paced risk-averse midfielder. Specialises in short passes backwards and sideways, doesn't tackle all that well, doesn't boss the midfield and goes missing in big games. I see a slightly improved version of Harry Winks in other words... Not a Conte-player at all.

But each to his own... Time will tell

I like De Jong a lot, he would be so effective in the advanced positions that Hojbjerg finds himself. I always preferred him in the more advanced role for Barca. He can drop deeper though and I actually think he could on occasion cover for Dier if we can boss possession. He has filled in at the back before but of course he's not a great defender so would be no good if we had to sit back. My main doubt is his wages.

His namesake won me over this season too. Luuk will return to Sevilla after his loan but when used as a plan b was very effective. Scored a few big headers and showed some great overhead kick technique. He's not great on the ball but if you want someone to come on and add a threat from crosses he could be a good squad addition.

Our hit rate in Spain hasn't been great though and it's not easy to tell how they will adapt to English football.

Great player but not quite sure how he would fit in at Spurs. Don't think he would really work in a CM2 and, while I suspect we'll play with 3 midfielders more often next season, are we gonna drop £59m on a player that only works in one specific system?
