Man City lost Rodri and lost 2/3 games. One player.

I backed conte until the bitter end because I want to just stick with a manger and stop changing. We should stick with this manger and give him the players he wants. Even if he loses the next few just back him in Jan.

No matter the manager, there will always be the decisions the fans disagree with, for better or worse.

The situation we're currently in, with 3/3 starting midfielders and 2/2 starting CBs out and several other injuries on top of that won't be the norm. It probably won't happen again. And despite this, we managed to outplay one of the most in form sides in the league. When things start to properly click, shots go in instead of hitting the woodwork and offsides turn to onsides, we're going to hammer a lot of teams.
Yeah the city fans can’t understand why they didn’t make any attscking subs against Liverpool when players clearly tired

Yeah, there's not a single team in the world that wouldn't be worse off without their best players. If anything, the Villa match showed that we've actually got decent depth in midfield, but we're obliviously in dire need of defensive reinforcements.

We hounded out a proven winner at the top level in the Prem and Italy becuase the fans didn't like the style of football and could not take him openly calling out the players for letting a 3-1 lead slip against a club doomed to relelgation.

Top 4 wasn't good enough for many Tottenham supporters, with a squad that was inferior to what Ange has now (and most will tell you that Ange still needs 4 or 5 upgrades). That's our fan base for you.

A bit of revisionism going on in this post. Conte literally imploded publicly and essentially demanded the sack. Not many of us enjoyed the football we were playing either - you can see the difference in how people view Ange who is a much more likeable personality, seems to genuinely want to be here and has got us playing attractive, attacking football. We didn't hound Conte out, he wanted out.

It’s quite simple in my mind. If anyone in this thread has got a problem with Ange, after literally a few months in which we have played some of the best football I have seen in years, then you are a major part of the problem of modern football.

We have a ridiculously high number of important players out, yet we still absolutely battered Villa and should have 3/4 up by the time Bentancur went off. That is down to Ange and his football philosophy.

It’s funny because when Conte was here, you had people on here saying “I can accept losing if we try to win and play well”, yet that is clearly not true.

Give Ange a few more players and get the injured ones back and he will make us a force to be reckoned with, and I truly believe he will win us a trophy in his time with us.

For having an opinion that differs from yours? Nice one mate
Different opinions, fine. That doesn't mean that all of them are valid or should be encouraged. Some people on here are desperate to be down on stuff when there just is so little reason.

This take is bizarre. Conte managed to get results out of our squad in the 21/22 season, so how come the squad was suddenly too shit for him the season after? He is a spoiled, weak man who can't stomach to take responsibility. We got rid way too late.

Absolutely. Aside from the ridiculous list of players injured and suspended, we can easily forget that we have also lost "our best player" in Kane in August. Silly hypothetical, but if we had Kane playing against Villa I bet we would have taken a few more of those several first half chances and put the game to bed.

As you said, no side can expect to play at the same level with over half of their first team missing.

The knives are out for him now with some in the media, criticising his style of play etc.

Some have been gagging for this moment as if to be proven right with their early season predictions.

Yet not one of them is adding the caveat of being hamstrung by injuries and only being games into his tenure.

I fucking hate this modern day punditry where they need to make a bold predicition and wait for the moment to say "see told ya".

Cloughie was right

yes it’s quite unbelieveable how the press can’t wait to rubbish his style etc yet they were all sympathetic over poor Eddie Howes injuries at Newcastle.
Seems they would rather say negative than how well we actually played, especially in the first half v Villa

I said this exact point at the time. All competitive sport is first and foremost about winning and losing for me. Do I want to be entertained? Of course I want to win pretty, but being pretty is not my priority, that would just be a very welcome biproduct.

I'm getting a fair number of disagrees with some of my posts right now because I am daring to question some of Ange's decisions, and that is fair enough, I understand not everyone has the same competitive nature I do, and I know some of you prioritise entertainment over results.

It doesn't mean however I don't see what Ange is trying to achieve, nor does it mean for one second I think he is not the right man for the job. I very much do. I am very willing to give him plenty of time to achieve that, and I accept in order to get there we will almost certainly lose a number of games whilst we are working towards that. I will however continue to be critical if I think he has made mistakes, and he has and will continue to do so, just like Klopp, and Pep do from time to time.

This is their opinion or perspective on certain things. By all means if you believe different you're entitled to but to call others pathetic for not being happy about everything going on with the club is uncalled for.

We need to allow everyone the space to discussion their concerns or sing praises, neither has more right than the other.

He changed the entire way the team played within two months. The guy is quality. We are at the bare bones. I get that losing is frustrating, but we could so easily have won the last 3 games.

Conte's football was archaic.

OK. And my opinion is, that people who are choosing to bemoan what's going on right now are pathetic.

Most of us just wanted a manager who wanted to be here.

Condescending to others who aren't happy clappy is far closer to the definition of pathetic than a difference in opinion but whatever helps you sleep at night.

No, you misunderstand me. We can point out issues, but the way that some are doing it, seemingly to take great glee in being able to jump back on their favourite past-time of bashing Spurs. There are huge glaring issues in the squad that have been exposed. No-one when the injuries and suspensions happened was predicting much more than losses in the forthcoming games, and yet, when it happens and we actually play quite well, we get some of the most ridiculous nonsense I've ever read.

As for what helps me sleep at night, my antidepressants, magnesium, and some sleep patches that have melatonin and lavender oil in, ideally also a diffuser on with some good oils.

I thought he general consensus with Nuno, Mourinho and Conte was we didn't want dull football, even it it meant winning? I seem to remember the majority wanted "Tottenham" back, a side that dares to be brave, on the front foot and entertain, as well as have a manager that's proud to be here. They would rather us lose games, as long as we dared to do. Seems to me Ange is doing just that.

It's only the end of November in Ange's first season after one transfer window. We have a number of players missing, several mid to long term. he has changed the style and the philosophy in mere months. On Sunday he had a makeshift defence, makeshift midfield, including someone playing for the first time since February(?) and two wingers who are still trying to find their form and confidence. And yet we outplayed Villa for the majority of it. A Villa side who are on the up and a team several on here thought would beat us pretty easily.

This is a football forum for discussion, but what rubs people up the wrong way is how those opinions are expressed.

All I read on here for months was that people didn't care about results and they just wanted to watch good football. I always knew that was nonsense but didn't think some would buckle so quickly.

If anything the Villa game has given me more confidence. If he can get that performance out of a mainly second string - with a squad that isn't full of his own players then great things are coming.

It's disheartening to witness this persistent inclination to seek out negatives
Haha

You’ve only been here five minutes, wait until you see how some people react with exactly the same negative mindset when we win. For some people it’s like viagra

🤪
