If you are talking about "evening it out" I'd say Var can't afford any more controversy. They'll be very much by the book this weekend I'd imagine.
Not sure it would be seen as that controversial to be honest but I hope you are right. We've already had a few dodgy VAR decisions this season and no fuss at all.

Playing first, away to one of the weakest teams in the league. With an opportunity to go top in October for the first time in what feels like forever.

What can go wrong, eh??...
Back in 2020 we were still top on the 16th of December. Albeit only 12 games had been played by then because of a late start to the season, we only had 25 points which isn't title-winning form, and performances were nowhere near as good. But there was a brief while where "can Mourinho's Tottenham win the league?" was a legitimate question. It's still very early days!

We come into this match on the back of a routine and largely uneventful 2-1 win over Liverpool while Luton Town have had their weekend bubble burst after following their away win at Everton with a home loss to Burnley on Tuesday night. We have a chance to go top of the table and I am struggling to comprehend how we will not do so. The way we are passing and moving this season, scoring a minimum of two a game and relentlessly pushing on from the first minute to the last coupled with the way Luton Town give up chance after chance means I can only see one outcome- a handsome win. Luton Town 1 Tottenham Hotspur 4 COYS!

Watched that Luton game last night. For most of the time it was like going back 20 years . Hustle and bustle , balls in the box etc. Burnley were trying to play but were stopped from doing so. It was only later in the game that they started to get space. Luton have some big lads up front so we don’t need to be giving them any corners.

I think we need to think of this game more as an early round FA cup match. Tight ground, excitable fans, and a direct opposition who will see the game as a free hit. It's a shame Perisic is injured because I'd have been tempted to start him on the left with Richarlison up top and bring Son off the bench if fit later on. But without that option I guess Solomon starts and then it's just a question of fitness for Son/Richarlison for CF.

Could go either way. An early goal and we could waltz it 5-0, or we could still be knocking on the door in the 75th minute. Just has that feel of us conceding a goal from a corner completely against the run of play before fitness tells and we score another couple of late ones.

I really haven’t seen much of Luton this season. Do they park the bus and counter or do they try to play? I’m assuming it’s the former rather than the latter. At this point I’m more concerned with teams that park the bus.

Old school high balls piled into the box at every opportunity, work the channels, play for set pieces

Oliver who was 4th official against pool will be on VAR this weekend. What's the chance of Spurs getting a decision out of VAR this weekend?
This doesn’t make sense.
If anything, the spotlight is going to be shining so bright on VAR for a while that they have to get every review 100% correct.

With Johnson out I think it will just be same again. The great advantage of 1 game a week is barring injuries or suspension we can field the same team a lot of times.

I think Richarlison will help in the physical aspects of this one anyway.

Hope Donley is back on the bench, would love to see him come on for Maddison and get some minutes.

But 100% correct in whose eyes, look at the vastly differing views on the Curtis red card?

I'm actually irrationally nervous about this. This should be the biggest of all bankers, but I can't shake the nerves

We absolutely cannot go into this underestimating Luton - they're shit but they've been getting less and less shit with every match they've played. One or both of City and Arsenal are going to drop points, we need to go there and trounce them. It felt like we (we, the fans) went into the Sheffield United game with far too much confidence and it could so easily have been a loss, never mind a draw. These sorts of games terrify me more than playing the big boys, especially away.

They have some big fellas up front and constantly tried to hit them against Burnley.

But they look woeful through the middle, I'm hoping we gain control of the midfield early.

Defensively LCB Bell went off injured and CB Lockyer still looked injured from previous.

Every prem game is competitive, especially away, but opportunity knocks.
