The concern I have with players like Kane and Bostock are the extent to which their physical development plays in their abilities.

At certain ages some kids become bigger and stronger much sooner than others and these natural physical advantages can make them stand out amoungst their less developed peers.

Not just that but also they might not have to learn to fight as hard as things come easy to them i.e. someone who is head and shoulders taller than every one else never has to really fight to win a header because they win them by default for so long against weaker smaller competition.

Same for challenges and being able to hold players off etc etc.

How do these players respond when they step up to the big leagues and are no longer the biggest/strongest/fastest?

Bostock has already shown a decline in his progression, well not a decline but he is not developing as fast as some expectations quite probably because his physical advantages are now void and he has to compete as well as fighting just to use his technique.

Kane has now gone on loan, so for the first time we can see how he responds to playing against full grown men (who should be of inferior quality), by all rights he should tear that level of competition up (if he is ever going to make it at our level you would expect him to have a Defoe at Bournemouth type of impact with Orient)

That is not to say if he does not bang the goals in he cannot be a success in the future or that his loan move will have been a mistake, maybe he can learn valuable lessons at the club such as how to combat a defender stronger than him who maybe looks to tackle through him and knock him about a bit etc.

I don't know whether or not we will ever see Kane in the first team at Spurs, he certainly has not attracted the type of attention Owen/Fowler and ROoney did (even Rodwell) I have seen him playing and scoring for England's youth teams but that is not always an indication of ability long term (Was Danny Hill not captain at one England level...not to mention Caskey)

Good luck to him, I hope he has much success at Orient and we end up will a real prospect on our hands. Would be wonderful to have our own Michael Owen at Liverpool situation.
