Louis Saha

I'm not basing this on any media reports linking him to us so hope mods don't mind me posting here, just wanting to open it up as a discussion really.

Saha's been released today on a free by Sunderland, as far as I know he isn't injured or anything, so would you welcome him back short-term if we don't get another striker in?

Personally I wouldn't mind - thought he did alright for us previously and knows how to find the net, wouldn't be the worst person to have on the bench. I'd feel far more confident having Saha on the bench than Obika or Kane.

Nothing would happen tonight with Saha. I'd imagine that he could be a fall back guy if we don't get Damiao tonight (which we wont).

Would be announced over the next day or so if we didn't sign anyone.

After Defoe's injury today, i'd take him on another 6 month contract. We need a recognised striker and Saha is still far far better than the young options we have. He could do a job for us the lad.

Depends though, why did Sunderland cut his contract?

If we were getting the exact Saha we had I'd be more than happy to have him back but his physical condition may have deteriorated since then.

So a team with 2 strikers near the bottom of the table, who havent scored many goals, decided to get rid of player and use their youth striker instead,

Who coincidentally has a goal scoring record as a striker in the championship 9 goals in 37 games whereas our youth striker has a goalscoring record in the championship as a CM, AM and ST of 7 goals in 19 appearances

And yet some how this player isnt better than what they have but is better than "league 1 Kane"(as some put it)

Kane isn't as good as Saha IMO. Saha had a decent enough goalscoring record for us and with good quality supply he could be OK. Kane, although injured for a while, has proved he isn't really cut out for this level, yet. He certainly isn't League 1 standard though, probably mid championship at the moment. But anyway, it's obvious that Dempsey just isn't a striker, and we need someone recognised, whether it's Saha or Kane.

If ever there was an opportunity for one of our two "youth" strikers to come in and make a play from the bench, it is now.
Otherwise by ignoring these youngsters and denying them an opportunity to step up to the plate, it sends all the wrong signals to the complete youth set up.

Who knows, a Kane goal from a backside fluke may kickstart a run where he cements a position and a role which ultimately could save the club many millions.

You know what, Defoe has been so poor recently that i would just put Kane on for a game, sod Saha, sod Dempsey lets just try Kane until Ade gets back, if Fergie did it would anyone blink? no, thought not..
