Is he any better than JD? We dont need any more squad players we need a world class CF and im pretty sure he aint one?
So id rather we gave him a miss personally

The main thing is he has played out wide as the RF for Marseille. He could essentially be what AVB wanted Sturridge to be. He could provide more goals from the right than Lennon (which would be essential if we moved to a 4-3-3 that features hypothetically Moutinho/Dembele/Sandro), and he also could double as CF cover in the event of Ade or Defoe going down with injury. He's a solid addition to our side that lacks quality depth up front on the wings and at CF. That'd be my justification for the purchase.

Agreed. Steady addition. Not a world beater, but an upgrade on where we are now. If the talk of a gradual transition to 433 is true, then a front three of Remy, Ade and Bale offers power and pace. If you swap Defoe for Adebayor, then the physical presence of the wide forwards would become more critical getting into the box. Lennon offers less of a goal threat but is an alternative as a game changer with his ability to take people on at pace. Townsend still has the time to slot into either category. He has pace and ability, and as he gets more game time, and in turn confidence should see him a decent backup in the wider role.

Remy yes
Bale yes
Ade.........not so sure he is really the answer for this system

Firstly he drifts way to much. I can see Remy and Bale whipping the balls in only to find Ade on the touch line somewhere!
Ade was great for us last year but i just don't think he first touch is good enough and he is not clinical enough in front of goal

i don't think the striker we need to fulfill this is currently at the club

I really hope someone else signs him early in the window before we end up lumped with him, don't rate him at all

Personally think he is very average, another Chamakh or Gervinho for me

We don't need any more squad fillers

Whilst i don't think he is good enough, i would argue that actually in this position (CF/Winger) we DO need a squad filler.

Bale obviously isn't going to be replaced as a starter. Whilst Lennon's form isn't always consistent i can't see him being replaced as a starter by anyone costing less than about £20m - which seems an unlikely amount of money for us to spend in Jan. As as for CF - again a big money/name player might displace Ade and/or Defoe, otherwise it will be a squad type player we bring in IMO.

think the french league is average right now,the times of real class players emerging from there are few & far between now compared to past recent decades.

Like Lloris.....

It may not be the best league but its a huge country and will always develop fantastic players. Not saying remy is one of this fantastic players however!

Bet he turns out to be a great player and Levy regrets it.
