Would be a great signing IMO. Seems to be a bit of future planning as a Ben Davies type replacement but for Ange's system (More pace). Could be utilized at both LB/LCB. Contract situation screams a good price as well.

Not taking shots at Davies because he's been fantastic and deserves to stay if Ange wants him to, but he is 30 and it just screams good business to replace him at some point with a younger player with potential in the current system.

If he were to come in January I wonder if Reggie would be used as there seems to be interest there? Gil loan could be nice too to see if he could get a run of matches...

Might be a controversial take but Ben Davies has been outstanding for us so I don't see the point of this. Some will mention the pace but Davies is no Fazio and he's actually coped fairly well with the high line this season.

Once the immediate RCB need is addressed, I think the smart play here is to wait until the summer regarding another CB and go into the next few months with Dragusin, Romero, Micky and Davies which is more than adequate. We can also see how Phillips fares on loan at a high level in the Championship.

I'm sure Kelly is decent but I think he could block Dorrington and Phillips from coming through, and I don't think he is a massive upgrade on Davies.

Bottom line is we shouldn't be signing him just because he's free if he doesn't improve us long term.

Perfect depth signing and looked really good this season when he played. Looks like he has room to grow as a player and could be an astute cheap addition to sort the back line out
