Lille v Bordeaux going on now. For those that didn't know (and that would be surprising if you are in the Ligue 1 thread) Marcelo Bielsa manages Lille. On the Bordeaux side there is that left-footed attacking mid Malcolm who was talked about during the transfer window. Apparently Bordeaux have jeremy toulalan as well (always wanted him at Spurs after he left Lyon...and when he wasn't 147 years old).
Spectacle has been somewhat ruined due to a sending off for Lille in the first half for 2 bookables. Didn't see the first but considering the circumstances the second may have been harsh. Cafu just came on for Bordeaux. Considering Toulalan is still playing perhaps you might think it is that Cafu. It is not.
Neymar's never been an ARM.I mentioned Malcom in here a couple of times. He's a lively fucker for sure.
Missed the Lille game, currently watching the ex-Spurs left back derby game.
There's something very wonky with the balance of PSG's forward group, effectively playing with three ARM's behind Cavani.
would love to pick up Draxler.
Here you go, you will not see a better half way goal than this:
Neymar's never been an ARM.
Quality was too poor in that game to really evaluate Malcolm. You could tell he was technically skilled but the game had zero (oops, should I say zed) organization. There was no shutting up shop by Lille. They were more open after going down a man. They took a point due to Bordeaux's profligacy.I mentioned Malcom in here a couple of times. Yeah, surprised to see Berchiche getting a game. Kurzawa must have played both French games. PSG paid a shitload for Berchiche. I never saw him play at Sociedad but the TV said like 18M Euro or something like that. He didn't look great in the preseason game and all the play by Metz in the first half came down his side.
Balance? Nowhere to be seen during the 1st half. M'bappe, Cavani and Neymar all looking for the left halfspace. Seems they 'balanced' it by Meunier pushing up with Draxler (yes, I agree with you on him). Berchiche did not get forward that I saw.
PSG don't look great at all (only saw first half). They really are not concerning themselves with midfield play. Maybe that will change when verrati gets back but this 4-2-4 (4231 at a stretch as I don't think any of those supposed 3 AMs are going to being any donkey work - they didn't in the 1st half) was leaving them exposed to Metz so I cannot imagine they're going to roll this out in the CL.
No really great Ligue 1 games tomorrow. Nice v Monaco starts just after ours.
here's the goal: https://streamable.com/ahs0eMbappe scores on his debut. Ekotto sent off with a dodgy decision
I was watching some of the PSG v Lyon game last night, and I was blown away by the atmosphere at the ground, despite the fact that the fans are miles from the pitch. Quality of the football was really good, too.
This Nice-OM game is bonkers. 2-3 after Nice ran out 2-0. Halftime coming up. that's right I said halftime. Woner what the over-under is for this game.Watched the Marseille v Toulouse game. Pretty poor game to be honest, lots of huff and puff, but Toulouse were insipid, Marseille pretty inept. Apparently Machach has punched a reserve coach and will never play for Toulouse again. Dupraz rotates his players, as is the French way, but seems wedded to a version of 4411 continually and it's not getting the best out of his, meagre, squad. Njie's turned himself into an erratic version of Defoe currently, lots of pace off the last defender's shoulder, but not a lot of composure or quality. Thauvin has really turned himself around last couple of years and is now a very consistent performer who is almost Lamela's doppelgänger in every way, the way they move, the way they play, their left footedness, the way they work off the ball, if anything, Thauvin is probably less erratic now than Lamela. Payet looks a shadow of his best self. Evra's fallen out with the rest of the dressing room apparently.
French football could really do with Marseille turning themselves into a genuine contender, but even against an insipid Toulouse, they stuttered there way through.
