Well, you put the team on downward spiral by refusing to see importance of back up striker on summer and especially on january with Kane injured early in the month. No striker, no CL, no CL, worse squad next season, worse squad next season, again no CL - feel satisfied how january was handled?

Yawn....

Big ask this: I’m not sure spending big is something we do that well anyway, but at the very least spend wise. This squad needs new players in a number of positions so not doing much in the summer window would be the equivalent of bashing oneself in the gonads with a rusty sledgehammer in the vain hope it might cure a nasty STD you’re too tight to pay the medicine for

Not when you look hard enough. We haven't properly scouted since Arnesen.

Well if I was director in Bulgarian or Belgian or whatever club, my negotiating stance would be rather difficult wether it was Amiens or Spurs making the approach for player. Sure buying club affects the price.

Let's invest the way that Dortmund do , they have never spent more than £28 million on any player in their history, very sensible, there are players out there at reasonable prices just got to find them..

Dortmund spent £133m 2019/20. £81m 2018/19. £98m 2017/18. £108m 2016/17. (Total £420m)
Spurs spent: £133m 2019/20. £109m 2017/2018. £75m 2016/17. (Total £317m).
Wolves spent a total of £207m over past two seasons.
Sheffield Utd spent £62m this season.

And why are we likely to miss out on CL, Levy? Negligent lack of investment in the squad when WERE in the CL, for fuck's sake. This summer we'll hear that we had targets lined up but goalposts have shifted and the market is difficult, and we'll be scrabbling around desperately for loans.

Why doesn't he just hold his hands up and say he doesn’t like spending money?.
Different transfer window different excuse?

For clubs in those countries it is a question of a maximum of an extra 5 million pounds or so. I know the transfer rates in Poland. When Genoa bought Piatek they paid 5 million euros. Come on.

Different prices when English teams enter the market.

True but prices also go up if you are a Champions League team.

Regardless, he's hardly going to say we've got loads of money. Arsenal were prepping the media they only had £40 million to spend last summer and yet spent more. I wouldn't take too much stock in headlines about how much clubs have to spend.

Impacted could mean certain players might choose other clubs in the CL other than Tottenham. Certain players might not like the idea of working under Jose Mourinho. Certain players might want bigger wages.

Levy from a business point of view would be totally inept not to finance a team rebuild because the longer we're out of the big money competitions the less revenue we'll make (we won't be maximising our earning potential)

I believe Levy will be forced to act if things don't turn out we have invested far to much money to fail.

I'm reading it as "don't expect any £50m+ signings" as we can't take the risk without the CL money.

As long as we are are getting the right players and getting deals done quick I'm okay about it. But then that's another issue so we'll likely be in for another stressful window.

We'll never win anything with Levy at the helm. He doesn't run a football club but a property development scheme aimed squarely at lining his own pocket. Having to invest in players is just a costly nuisance to him...

That where he'll need to be careful because if the football or league finishes ain't sufficient the fans will stay away ( away support though is different) we would be losing out on TV deals CL monies league finishes.

Sometimes you need to speculate to accumulate.

More likely players will want to work with one of the most successful managers in the game. Although I guess it depends as a fan which side your bread is buttered. Our players seemed really excited when he joined for example. They seem to still be on board.

Property building takes so much time planning permission etc etc. why not just follow the Dortmund example of making money sign a player like Ousmane Dembele in 16/17 season for £13.5 million and then in 17/18 season sell him to Barcelona for £112.5 million , that's what I call a nice quick profit.
