Thought so. Ten years of not being able to spend before the stadium, now many years of not being able to after it's built.

It took Arsenal a few years to be able to spend. It'll take us less time due to the increased tv money in all the competitions and the NFL plus other events but it will still take time. We're self funding a £750m stadium project getting help from a big loan to pay back. Anyone who expected us to be able to spend right away was fooling themselves.

I'm not really bothered as 90% of the time when we do spend big or biggish its a disaster.
Can anyone tell me the last time we broke our transfer record with anyone who was a success?
I may be wrong but I think the following were club records- Rebrov, Bent, Bentley, Soldado, Lamela, Sissoko, thats off top of my head.
I can't see how anyone can class Lamela as a success although I'm sure some will try.
Not very impressive is it.
We don't need to spend big. We need to buy quality.
You can go get Ozil at 50m or get Alli.
You can get Stones or Toby.
Soldado or youth in Kane.
Trippier was a good buy as was Eriksen, Son and Toby was a fkin steal, what a player.
We've now got Winks coming through.
Kyle Walker-Peters is gonna be fantastic imo.
When you look back at some of our big spends and you watch these players it does make you wonder wtf were you looking at lol? The only one thats surprised me was Soldado. Wrong time to be at Spurs I think. Shame.
We need to buy quality but also quality that fits how we play. Soldado was and is quality but he didn't fit how we played.
Like Davis now. He's a very good player but he's just not what we need to cover for Rose.
I'm hoping we no longer see head scratchers like Sissoko. We cant afford fk ups like that (no pun intended).

He didn't explode any myths for me, I said all along the stadium isn't a golden goose.

in a way some constraints might not be the worst thing in the world --- let Poch build using the academy and adding smart buys etc

Just watch the doco and save yourself some time guys and stop clicking on rubbish like this one.

Nope he's pre warning us
The big question is how much we get for the naming rights, what it costs the club is the cost of the project (about 700m odd) less the naming rights (I've seen 400m quoted). Once that deal is done we'll have a better idea of the impact on transfers.

This is basically the same stuff in other threads and media re-hashed from the NBCSN documentary.

Posters should read before copy and posting ffs.

Click bait at its very best.

As I wrote in detail on the New Stadium thread, the other big question is how much the club can make from selling the 500 flats. Those capital receipts will be used to reduce the debt. So we have to hope the marketing period does not coincide with another housing market wobble or crash.

Loads of clubs have awful record signings. Look at Man Utd....spent £185m on Veron, DiMaria and Pogba.

Chelsea £126m on Torres, Shevchenko and Batshuayi, then add £53m on for the likes of Wright Phillips and Cuadrado into the bargain.

Liverpool £39m on Benteke then add in Carroll for £35m, Downing for £20m, Markovic for £21m etc.

Every club has them. The great thing is our academy players are making the grade. Not many at other clubs seem to be.

Levy did mislead on one point though.

We all wanted a bigger stadium than that lot down the road, and deep down I think he did too.

Read what he said again. He worded it very carefully. He did not rule out what you said. It's not misleading, it's just precise.

hmm, he seemed to imply that it was to satisfy demand and service the season ticket waiting list. Yes i agree with that.

but deep in his soul, there is a bit of boys with toys, and too right.

I wanted a bigger and better ground, to go along with a decade of winning trophies and enjoying more success than that lot.
