This is not a lennon scapegoat thread for that pathetic performance against Chelsea because i have felt this way about him for a few years now. Aaron Lennon has not progressed as a player in how we thought he would eventually be. If anything he has got worse as the years have gone by and gone are the days where an exciting Aaron Lennon got you off your feet in anticipation due to his superb pace and trickery. Let's be honest Aaron Lennons final delivery has always been dog shit but he has got worse season by season and it has now got to a point where i don't get out my seat anymore when lennon gets the ball. Why? because he is so fucking predictable.

He will either float in a cross that goes far to high for any player to get or will either cut back and do fuck all with it. Lennon for me offers zero attacking threat and i mean zero. He is an attacking winger and offers nothing of any sort in attack. He can't shoot, he can't cross, he can't pass and he sure hell don't score. Yes he is known for his tracking back ability and that i will always give him credit for but he is a winger so should be a main point of our attack. He offers us nothing in attack.

Lamela who i am a massive fan of has been totally frozen out (before his injury) due to both our managers love affair with Aaron fucking lennon who frankly has not put in a consistent level of decent performances all season despite playing nearly every game. 1 goal and 1 assist all season, pathetic!!! Lamela has the same as that and has started about 5 games compared to lennons 30. Time to get rid of this useless shower of shit in the summer along with the other english crap namely Dawson, Naughton, Rose and Fryers.

Agree completely- how can you persist with a right winger/attacker (allegedly) who gets fewer goals/assists than most defenders?! Steven Caulker got more goals in one game from centre half yesterday than Lennon has in about 2 years- he's stealing a living and it's beyond a joke. Get rid!

The issue I have with him, is that he doesn't look like he has recovered from the Hamstring injury. He just doesn't have that raw pace anymore and doesn't look to use his pace

It's been said in other threads that this season our English core have all generally played well below the level we would expect. Unfortnately, for us getting rid of all or some of those players has a serious effect on our quota of home grown players. Remember 4 of our 25 man squad need to be club trained and 8 need to have been trained in England before 21 I think. I'm sure someone will correct me on that. So, much as I would like to see us replace Naughton, Rose, Dawson, Lennon, Townsend and Walker too with more skilful and intelligent players, sadly it's unlikely to happen. I know that we have some exciting younger home grown prospects at the Club but realistically, perhaps only Veljkovic (sp?), Bentaleb and Kane are actually ready for Premier League football. To buy in home grown replacements who offer us more than those we want to get rid of will come at a higher price as those players attract premium prices.

We have promising youth... LVG would like that if he comes.

I would agree but we have no better alternatives in the squad.....

When Lennon was injured this season, we really missed him, Would be stupid to get rid of him.

How could anyone be worse though? Seriously?! One goal and one assist in 30 odd games?! Gotta be one of the worst returns in the league! Even Matt Jarvis has better stats than that!

Lennon used to be my favourite player when he was 19 because he had tonnes of potential

When he turned 23/24- I still liked him and thought he was just a late developer so I still had hope but my favourite players were the Van der Vaart- Bale- Modric combo

Now he is nearly 27 FFS and he offers nothing except pace (albeit that is quite valuable nowadays) and a decent cross or pass once every few matches so I've lost faith and trust in him and he is most certainly not one of my most favourite players.

However, Lamela will almost certainly take his place in the team late this season or next season so people don't need to be worried about that.

To address the OP, no, I would not sell him because I think he is a good alternative and a good squad player and could come on as an impact player and we could throw him in cup matches and some PL matches.

Can't cross or shoot, has lost a yard of pace and hasn't got the flair to evade markers in general play, only occasionally beating a man when at full speed. Incredibly limited player.

249 PL apps
26 goals (a goal every 9.5 games)
44 assists (an assist every 5.6 games)

Sounds perfect for our current squad.

I seem to remember he was critical last season, and when he was injured we struggled. He has been poor recently though, but in this team not many are performing.
