Makes me sad watching this, what the fuck are we playing at.

Only Spurs.

Although, fucking hell how poor is defending in Serie A, the space you get is nowhere near that of the PL

Probably what has shocked him i would imagine, personally i would push him right up top with Soldado/Ade, i don't think it benefits him picking the ball up wide on the wing at all.

True, but the ball control he show in just goals 2, 3 and 4 for instance, doesn't matter where you are on the pitch or who you have near you, that is pure talent. I don't want to put them down but players like Lennon and Townsend are not ever going to be scoring goals like that on a regular basis whatever league they are in.

I don't think anyone can question his technique. He just needs to start doing things a bit quicker and get used to being bashing around a bit. Townsend and Lennon have both become quite good at riding tackles. Lamela is a much better footballer though.

I actually thought he looked a bit "tougher" in his last couple of appearances, less of the trembling Bambi and more man on a mission.

He certainly seems to be getting stuck in a bit more. I think you have to embrace the fight a bit to do well in this league. Generally those who don't end up leaving.

Just re-watched (linked a few pages back) and I think I'd like to see him given more play time.

Sometimes you have to play people based on their potential. Janujaz at Man U isn't neccesarily the best player they have at the moment but they recognise he needs game time. We should do the same with Lamela.

Uhm, he is one of the few positivies in that team at the moment. And he's 18 years old. Yeah, he's not as good as Rooney or RvP at their best of course but what's your point really? He's played really well this season for them. Lamela hasn't for us. That's a fact.

My point is that sometimes you play people because of their potential, particularly at Spurs. We need to stop chucking things away when they don't work immediately and try to make it work.

The lad obviously has talent and so it is up to the player and our well paid coaching staff to try and get the best out of him. For me at least he has so much more potential upside than Lennon - he might not deliver as much right now but I think he will go on to do so. Invest the time now, to reap the reward going forward.

That's not a fact, it's an opinion. :)

Pleaseplayhimpleaseplayhimpleaseplayhim.

Only Spurs could fuck up signing one of the world's brightest talents by never playing him except away against the best team in the country.

Only the English press could attempt to destroy the career of a young kid and hound him out of the league so desperately.

I hate this country :(

agreed. it actually breaks my heart. i remember reading a year ago how lamela's next move after roma was going to be a real madrid like move because he was improving and looked that good for them at 20.

come on timmy, start him at home vs crystal palace with adebayor, eriksen etc.

Agree. You can see what advanced positions he gets into for most of the goals - bursting into the box. He really would be ideal in a 433 alongside ade and soldado. Would be too much for most sides to handle, but risk leaving us pretty exposed defensively.

This is the overriding feeling.

I am fucking screaming in my head to get us to play him properly:

Lamela Soldado Adebayor/Eriksen

Fucking play him Spurs for fuck's sake!

If it doesn't work out for him here I don't think I'll ever forgive AVB for ****ing about with him so much.

After watching that video, one thing that was apparent was he played all over the final third, left side, right side and behind the forward but usually more central than hugging the lines. I think he needs more of a free role behind the main striker.

Long term, I think we should play Lamela & Eriksen in free roles behind Soldado, either could end up on the left centre or right depending on the play (I think they both have the intelligence to develop a good understanding of who goes where when etc), maybe with Lamela as the more advanced/attacking the box type with Eriksen dropping a bit deeper to link with the CM's more. With a mid 3 of a deep playmaker (Carroll or Holtby?) a beast (Beast?) and a box to box player (Paulinho or Dembele).

Soldado
Eriksen Lamela

Carroll Paulinho
Sandro

Rose Verts Kaboul Walker
Lloris

Short term, I would like to see Ade & Lamela behind Soldado and have Eriksen as the deep playmaker.

Soldado
Ade Lamela

Eriksen Paulinho
Sandro

Rose Verts Kaboul Walker
Lloris

http://metro.co.uk/2014/01/07/erik-...n-january-reveals-father-jose-lamela-4253483/

Erik Lamela’s Tottenham career looks all but over after his father revealed the player is desperate to quit White Hart Lane.

Lamela only joined Spurs in the summer as part of a club record £30million deal, but he has struggled to adapt to life in England.

And despite Tim Sherwood previously shrugging off speculation that the 21-year-old could leave on-loan this month, Jose Lamela says his son is desperate to leave.

‘Erik is not happy and wants to go back to Italy,’ he told the Italian media.

‘He has been linked with Lazio, but I don’t know anything about this. Could he re-join Roma? I don’t know.

‘Tottenham does not want him to leave in January.’

Lamela has made just nine Premier League appearances this term – and was previously linked with a transfer to Inter Milan.

Lamela has been a complete PR disaster for the club, only time will tell if he is a footballing / financial disaster... He's only 21!

Bought my son a home shirt with Lamela on the back for christmas, this would be bloody typical lol

On a more serious note it had better not be true although hes barely had a look in so far despite the hefty pricetag, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he wants to leave right now, still dont think Levy will allow him to go, hope not anyway.

Well done AVB. Can't figure out why Sherwood won't play him either, though he was injured last game.
