Maybe he just isn't that good that we want to commit to a deal. I don't want us signing someone for the sake of filling a position

Maybe so, but we don’t have a fit senior striker at the club. Not one.

If this guy is our preferred target, but we can’t quite decide whether he’s ok or shite then I would question what the fuck we have been doing.

Our ITK says if nothing goes wrong this should happen today yet we're meant to believe that a club that hadn't even shown an interest until yesterday has it all wrapped up signed sealed and delivered this afternoon, hmm I'm doubtful.

Edit: Just to clarify it's the second part I'm doubtful of not the first part.

Jose does? This is the same guy who let DeBruyne, Salah and Lukaku leave Chelsea when he was in charge lol
A little word called timing. Jose is all about the NOW. Those players weren't good enough at the time, he's not at Chelsea now when those guys are in their peak, he wants players who can do a job for him in the 2-4 years he's at the club.

All still very quiet on this guy, its funny how this is one of those where none of us had heard of the guy until a few weeks ago now we are F5ing all day long in a hope we will sign him.

Potential signings and transfer windows are like coming home to see Margot Robbie naked in a bath covered in bubbles but then being ushered out of the bathroom and sent back to work whilst she pleads for you to come back tomorrow, you know it aint gunna happen but it doesn't stop you hoping.

Personally I really don't think Poch had a good eye for a player whereas I think Jose does.
Each to their own but its an area i never rated Poch highly on.
Overall his record with signings was neither great nor terrible: we brought in a few gems and a few absolute stinkers. It's difficult to know how much he was personally behind our signings but rumblings from ITK suggested that he was behind Janssen who was one of our worst signings ever, and he also pushed for Osvaldo at So'ton who turned out to be a nightmare in the dressing room and was frozen out after half a season. Ironically the best Poch signings (aside from Son) may be the ones he barely got to use (Ndombele and Lo Celso).

It's also worth noting that Jose has a mixed record with signings. He made some inspired ones at Chelsea, Inter and Madrid, but also signed some very expensive turds and almost all of his signings at Utd were horrendous.

But that’s not a very good strategy for what is a crucial signing this window is it?

In all likelihood it's because we're in desperate need of a striker and there aren't many available. It's a risk minimising approach which I find is very sensible when looking at Piatek with the question marks over his ability and also what's currently available in the market.

I think Piatek would flop hard with us so I'm not really bothered if he goes to Hertha but we definitely need another striker.

Of the three linked, Piatek is the one I want the most....would be gutted if we miss out on him.

I'm not sure how transfers work but i think a lot of things can be agreed in principle then the last step is to get the player over for a medical but think this guy was playing for Milan last night so he'd have had to of flew over this morning OR we can agree and confirm the deal subject to a medical... I think lol.

Yeah I realise we’re in a desperate position, but this is all our fault for letting Llorente go without replacing him so I have no sympathy to be honest.

No excuses as far as I’m concerned.

While Lindelöf isn't a world beater he's definitely not a clanger. Been one of their better players this season.
Anyway I'm pretty sure he was a Woodward buy as well along with most of the players signed in Mourinhos Man U spell.

Because he’s had Maguire next to him to mind him - even Jose said this when he was a pundit on one of their games earlier this season.

If he's seriously entertaining a move to Hertha Berlin, who are two places above the relegation zone in the Bundesliga, then our interest in him surely can't be particularly solid

Probably not the best striker Jose ever signed, but Ade wasn't that bad while he was there- he scored 8 goals in 22 appearances and won a Copa Del Rey ?

Edit: +what Wig said above
Statistics really were not that bad, but he was considered a running joke there.
Still, i quite like him, so no hate from me ;)

But mourinho signed some strange players throughout his time.

DeBruyne went and immediately starting smashing it in Germany. If Jose really was infalable when it came to signing players he would have recognised the talent and given him more matches.

The overarching point is no manager is perfect at recruiting talent. Poch is certainly no worse than any other manager.
