I look after an Italian account at work and my contact over there is an AC fan, he was telling about this lad yesterday morning before the British press got hold of it so it seems the news broke over there first. Like others have found on forums he thinks he's decent and that he'll thrive in a better side as AC have been toilet this season, he said he'll be gutted if he leaves.

I can’t get my head around the club seems to think it’s a good idea to bring in a striker for 30m?

When Kane is back we all know how it goes.

KP will be gone in 2 years, and he’s still pretty young.

Why not spend another 20 and get someone who can play WF and Striker like Zaha, basically another Son?

Because Mourinho likes target men and Zaha would be closer to another 50m. I agree that he would be better but no way Levy spends 80m on him when our 2 best players play at his positions. Maybe he could be used on right wing in the future but still.

Ahh I miss that beautiful, lazy Russian tree

Still somehow managed to score a fair amount of goals despite being constantly rotated between three other strikers.

Ah, the Redknapp days when we used to have four decent strikers in our squad

Buy a striker ffs - but not that one, the other one.

I don't know anything about this player, just like Berba when he moved to us, just like Pav and just like Vinny J. If he is coming to us, then I'll just hope he is good for us until proven otherwise.

The Zaha ship sailed two seasons ago IMO. We won't sanction that much money for another wide forward and he's 27, yes that's prime age but also means that he'll probably have very little resale value down the line and at that age I don't see him getting much better than he is now.

Is Piatek a target man though? Thought he was more of a poacher?

Because neither of them are proper number 9’s who can play with their back to goal etc. And that’s clearly what Jose wants.

I’ve never heard of this guy so can’t say whether he’s good or crap, but I do agree we need another number 9.

Zaha is not a striker and has a terrible goals record. We need someone to hold the ball up and get on the end of things and try and replace Kane's physical presence and work rate. Piatek may or may not be that man but it's plainly obvious we need to take the pressure off having to play Kane in 50 plus games a season.

So long as this is a Jose signing and not one being pushed on him by levy then I’m right behind it!

My limited research has shown me about 30 of his goals, all of which were scored from a combined 100 yards or so. He is definitely a poacher, which is a worry given the lack of chances we create, but hopefully if his work ethic is as good as everyone says he’ll be an asset to the team.

We all know how it goes but perhaps Mourinho has realised that’s not how it should go and he needs to be rested on occasions. And he feels KP is the right man to deputise

Is really wasn't necessarily Zaha. Just another Son, i'm sure there's plenty out there. That way we strengthen us, instead of buying someone to rot on the bench in 3 months. For 30m (!!!)

Just seems a lot to be spending 30m on a backup striker that's all.

So we might as well play Son as a striker then and buy Zaha or another wing option to cover.

All depends on Mourinhos plans. Maybe we go for something like this:

------------------------GK------------------------
------------Sanchez--TA---JV---------------------
Serge---Lo Celso----------Ndombele---Sess----
-----------------------Dele------------------------
---------------Piatek----------Son----------------

At least would give us more options.

We all know Kane. He wants to play every game, and keep damaging his career by doing so. I pray that Jose will rest him more, for his own sake.

Fair enough but whatever the questions is £80m for Zaha is not the answer. That Osihmane(SP) at Lille looks dynamic enough to play off the wing from the one video I watched on him. He reminds me of Adebayor with his long legs and bouncy running style. Whether he's actually decent or not is another matter.
