I get the distinct impression that if King cant manage 1 in 3 games without doing his knee in then his career is over.

Thats pretty sad if its true. But I wont believe his career is over until he says it himself

Early qualification for Europe has enabled the Club and Ledley King to make further plans for the management of his recovery from injury.

As a result of this, Ledley will not feature in the final six fixtures of this season.

"My knee is actually feeling good at the moment and there is no inflammation, but we have to look at the bigger picture and accept that this is an ideal point in time to recover further, get best advice and make sure that I come back fitter," said Ledley.

"They are six games I could well have taken part in, but we all believe this is worth doing for the longer term benefit."

Seems reasonable really, would prefer he came back properly fit and raring to go next season.

Its a lot of crap.

King will not play in the last few games because there is no need for him to.

We have Europe already.

I feel very sorry for King, without injuries he could have been the greatest english CB of his generation.

But we can't continue to include him as part of our plans.

By all means keep him around, try and get him fit and then if we day he can step back into the team on a full time basis, we can look at that option then.

But for now i think it is crucial we bring in another highly experienced CB to partner Woodgate.

makes perfect sense to sit him out, we dont have to rush him into any games, we have our european spot and no chance of relegation

we will reap the rewards of this next season

It's like the first cuckoo of Spring, or the first swallow of summer: the news that Ledley King will take no further part in first team football for the rest of the season.

The next piece of news we will get is that despite not having played a single competitive match for six months, he's injured and will miss the early part of next season.

If on the last day of the season after the game against Liverpool he picks up the microphone and goes to address the crowd with a tear in his eye be prepared to hear his farewell speech.

I confess I actually laughed at that potentially tragic outcome because it would be such a Kingism....

Sadly, I'm afraid I suspect BOF may be correct.

This 2 April news piece about Ledley getting legless again is bad news:

Of course everyone is entitled to a blowout once in a while. But for Ledley to be a key part and leader of our squad next season, Ramos & Alvarez will want to be confident that he's committed to doing his best to ensure his short- and medium-term fitness. He needs to sort his head out asap.

He will end up on a "pay as you go" contract, I reckon. One of the Club's highest paid players on his arse for three quarters of the season. Good player and WHL legend or not, business acumen has to come to rescue at some point.

Just changed thread title after those scaremongering Breaking News editors at SSN put a negative spin on the news. Was "...misses rest of season due to knee injury". Hopefully this is less upsetting!

Anyone else see this as good news? Yes, our defence with Kaboul and/or Dawson in is generally shite, however at least it means King's up for at least another season. Good for us and him in the long-term if he takes these games off.

We'll see what happens in the summer--if we move aggressively for a new CB, as has been rumored, then this may well be Ledley's farewell. I sincerely hope not, I hope that it is exactly what they say it is...[says brief prayer]

this is a good thing in my view. Get him rested and sorted for next year. If he can't manage next year then we need to worry.
