Tottenham ready to pay £27.5million for Keita Balde
Tottenham have been linked with the Lazio attacker Keita Balde Diao for weeks now.
According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, the Londoners are willing to match the asking price for the Senegalese forward now.
Apparently, Lazio are holding out for a fee of £27.5million for the attacker (translated by HITC). The player is thought to be keen on a move to Juventus but the Italian champions are unwilling to match the asking price for the player.
Keita has been one of the best players in Serie A over the last 12 months and Spurs could certainly use his pace and flair. The Londoners need to add some width to their attack and Keita would be ideal for them. The former Barcelona player scored 16 goals from a variety of positions in the Serie A last season. The 22-year-old can play anywhere across the front three and his versatility would be an added bonus.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Keita would only join a Premier League side if they are in the Champions League and are based in London. In that case, Spurs have a very good chance of landing the player. Furthermore, their willingness to match Lazio’s demands will only benefit them.
It will be interesting to see whether Juventus decide to pay up for the player now. Keita is intent on leaving and if the Italian giants do not splash the cash, he might just decide to head to England with Spurs.
News reports that Juve interested in Sissoko! Ask Juve to step aside on Balde and we'll do a very reasonable deal for Sissoko?
Would be too good to be true.

I agree but willing to be wrong. The story just doesn't add up to me based on our window. Our strategy this window seems to me to have been built around sounding out players, getting a feel for wages, luring them to our benefits, introduce Poch magic, and tying them to a pre-contract agreement while we work on a fee so that the bid agreed to signing speed is at full tilt. I just don't see us calling up Lazio and going "here's 30million" and then calling KBD and begging him to join while we gives lovey eyes to Juve.We agreed the fee ages ago.
It's not new information. The player will go to Juventus, I'm beyond convinced.

The story leaking now, right after Juve have denied any interest (a peak Levy move near the end of the window), feels more like it would come from either KBD's camp to force Juve to contact him and whisper more sweet nothings, or Lazio's camp to test Juve's stance and try to set a price if they are expecting them to come back in on deadline day.
I doubt any paperwork signed while in the employment of another team ("company") would hold up in court. It obviously wouldn't stop their agent from signing something with us but doubt we would go that far and any agent who did sign would be an idiot unless we could make unparalleled offers (we're Spurs so... nah?). I merely meant we're trying to make sure we have everything drawn up on our end and that the player is keen on us before we bother making any moves. In other words, the opposite of the West Ham model.Gotta love a "pre-contract agreement" though.
We agree to agree ...
Forgive me if I'm wrong - and there's some nuance to this - but if that's what it is, it's not worth the paper its written on if it's indeed written down at all.
