Not utilized correctly by Wenger. Don't think he is the player people made him out to be at Madrid and with his Germany performances, but he is certainly still very good.

He's a quality player, but you have to follow three basic rules:

  • Keep him out of the light, he hates bright light, especially sunlight, it'll kill him.
  • Second, don't give him any water, not even to drink.
  • But the most important rule, the rule you can never forget, no matter how much he cries, no matter how much he begs, never feed him after midnight.

Weren't the Scum pissing themselves that it was the Bale transfer that allowed them to buy Ozil? Haven't heard them mentioning it for a while though....strange that.

He's a typical lightweight no10 where he needs other players to do his running for him and is sublime in between the lines if he has the space to do it. The problem is that in this league you need to be fit because you are constantly running and you don't get that much space which is why Ozil is struggling to adapt.

The obvious comparison is between him and Eriksen although I'd say that Eriksen is now working harder than ever before and he's tracking back and he has a better end product than Ozil.

i just think the #10 role as people know it is dying out now, that space isn't there anymore like it was 5-10 years ago. he's still a fantastic player imo but he's verging on being a luxury for the reason you stated about him not being fit enough or working hard enough, if he'd played yesterday then he'd have weakened arsenal and that's a little worrying for someone who cost them 42m.
