He's a baller and will prove his class with a full season under his belt in La Liga. Wish we would've made it just a standard loan — 15m is going to be bargain for him.

It's only an option and he has to agree to go, if he steps up maybe we could convince him that he'll play a big part here going forward.

What was his defending like, they did concede three?

First goal wasn't his man and shows he's quick but didn't get there in time, second you could say he should do better if you're really harsh but first it wasn't his man who scored, second he had 3 opposing players around him which either his teammates lost or didn't pick up. Gave away the free kick for the third goal, couldn't do anything about the strike itself

Decent performance on the whole from what I gather

All roads lead to Rome....this just reminds me of Sissjokio's Leadboots impression against Spam and makes me wonder can this boy jump against an attacking header (or Dire's pathetic attempts against CL/Carroll).

Yes shipmates still bitter at our inability to challenge for a header against a useful unit.

Most of the reports I read talk about his ball playing ability, I just wonder if his future is at DM or RFB. If they were impressed by his debut hopefully we'll see more of him and maybe they'll move him around a bit.

Can't see them not activating the option. IMO he's always had the skill set to play at DM, probably moreso than CB. Wish we'd have kept him but he was never in Mourinho's plans and I doubt he'll be coming back which I think is a huge mistake.

I agree but the mistakes made with Foyth fall on Poch far more than on Mourinho. Not giving him any significant game time either for us or on loan for three years has stunted his development and he probably needs a chance of scenary to come good.

Looks like he’s only played once all season, wonder what’s going on with him?

Looks like he’s very much a part of their 2nd string in the Europa at the moment. They’re going well in the league so will be difficult for him to get into the first league 11 you’d think.

Agreed, and when he has played so far he has been fine, but not outstanding. I don’t think this will really change any time soon. I do wonder whether he’s really more suited to a less critical role (by this I mean one which forgives small errors) or if he just needs the right CB next to him who is more defensive and would cover hi/ lapses but allow him to play a bit more football.

Played DM again in their 1-1 draw with Athletico. Still no idea how he’s been doin in that role. Very curious.
