Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas is delighted with his preseason form.
Jenas was close to his best when starring for Tottenham in their 1-0 win over Benfica in Lisbon and reckons he has ditched his injury-prone tag.
He admitted to The Sun: "I don't think I have anything to prove but I do feel as if I have missed a season in my career because I didn't play many games at all.
"Obviously, I was disappointed to miss out on the World Cup squad.
"But this is another campaign and I must do all I can to make sure I don't miss out again.
"I'd like to think there is room in the England squad for someone like me who can pass the ball. I'm mobile too.
"And there's definitely more goals to come from me - that's what gets you really noticed."

He played really well against Benfica. Showed great levels of energy and could still offer us something in the squad this season. He's another player who spent most of last season injured, but the season before that he formed a good partnership with Palacios.

Of course it's unfashionable to praise Jenas or Keane. So I expect their good performances to go largely unnoticed

Keane did well in the US, Jenas is getting back to full fitness again. 2 potentially decent squad players if nobody signs them up.

I guess we will have to agree to differ on both counts.

Jenas played really well against Benfica. He did. Honest. He was really good.

He should get the credit that he deserves.

People forget the partnership he formed with wilson 18 months ago. They single handedly drove the entire team on for half the season

Anyways, Id be happy for him to stay if we dont get another CM

Never have understood the point in constantly deriding one of our own players.

Admittedly he hasn't got consistency in his game, but maybe with a bit of support he would do. Must be pretty annoying for him never getting a chant, but someone like Pav does.

Some of the Jenas haters wil never admit he has had a good game no matter how well he plays. During the game with Benfica people were rubbishing him on the match thread at the same time he was being praised on the thread on the game in Spurs Chat.
People have different opinions but some are just blind.

I like Jenas as a player but do accept that he needs to have more fire and will to improve and I think the comment in bold is quite sad, as he does have a lot to prove still and it's worrying that he cannot see this.

They played quite a few games together and were actually very very effective as a pairing, probably aruably better then Palacios and Huddlestone were.

I don't get this, at the end of the day palacios and Hudd were the main pairing of our best season in the Prem ever. I'm no big Jenas hater or fan either, if we can improve on him great if not fine he's good enough for a squad player

oh that is closer still lol.

I actually rate Jenas and think he still has the potential to develop into a more consistent player.

I think he is SUPERB, but that just my opinion. Not as bad as a lot of people make out.
