On the cheap would be a potentially good signing but a massive element of risk given his injury.

@SimonPeach: Koeman on Rodriguez transfer speculation: "He’s a Southampton player, he has a contract and he’s not for sale"

@SimonPeach: Koeman: "First, the most important for Jay is that he will come back and play in football and that’s our question, not about the rumours"

The Sun is reporting that Poch has £60million to spend and his first target is Rodriquez, followed by Cabaye and Laporte. I'm not sure I can see Levy spending £60m in the last 2 days of the transfer window. :ROFLMAO:

I had a friend who used to work at The Sun in the sports section. By his own admission he said the stories they wrote were utter bullshit 9.9 times out of 10.

Only 9.9 times?

The other 0.1 were stories they claimed as 'exclusive' that had previously been flirted/confirmed on the internet numerous days before. He said it was a running game between the writers who could get a bullshit story past by the editors and successfully in the paper.

They aren't even written by people anymore. The gossip sections are by-and-large written by computer programmes now. Algorithms that draw data from twitter and make 'predicitions'

I can believe it. My friend worked with them in 2003 way before computer analytics became bigger than Dirk Diggler's shlong.

The Metro had a comment one one of their columns a week or two ago, where they said that's exactly what they did for a laugh...

I'm sure it read we were looking at getting Cabaye and Laporte in the summer and only Rodriguez now?

Who cares what it says? Laporte would cost £40million. It's made up, as always.

I don't know about your friend but I get the impression that a lot of these guys actually never played football and spent most of their childhood playing fm, dreaming up scenarios for their team and agendas, they've then carried this with them into the "real" world.

When I think about football writers I always pay close attention to the guys in World Soccer magazine, very educated and balanced with much less hint of an agenda.
