Leicester sold Maguire for 80m. They are not under any real pressure to sell so can get top whack for outgoings.

This is not happening by any stretch of the imagination.

For context on the Maguire fee:

1. It was pre-Covid
2. It was coming off the back of a World Cup where Maguire starred (Maddison can't make the squad)
3. It was Manchester Utd calling, everyone tries to fleece them
4. He was only at Leicester for 2 years so probably had 3 years left, not 2
5. Ed Woodward was involved

Wouldn't surprise me if they dealt around the Richarlison mark. Whether we're willing to go that high is another question.

What have Leicester been doing in the transfer market this summer? I haven't heard anything which suggests to me they haven't got a lot of money to play with... Maybe...

Two years left, interest in Winks. Philips fee is the standard here although you could argue that Madison scores more so the fee should be higher.

I wouldn't say it's not a possibility but in the unlikely category

He’s the right age & profile, experienced and stats are incredible - just need to convince him.

Easily outscored arsenals new number 9 last season. Adding that potential goal threat alongside his creativity would give us 5 amazing forward options and we’d have quite some attack. Bit like Richarlison he’s one of those players that makes you think hmm at first but actually makes a lot of sense

He's the kind of player who we should be targeting though.

Big coin being made in the new stadium, Conte at the helm, Champions League compared to no European football for Leicester etc.

We should be slapping £70m down as he fixes both a HG issue that lingers and a creative spark slot that needs balancing within the squad.

I really hope this one has legs. Put Lo Celso into a swap plus money for Pau Torres to difuse the cost at CB, Lenglet on loan and Spence and we have ourselves a fantastic looking unit
I agree with a lot of what you're saying, I really do, and I think for the right price he'd be a great addition.

The difficult judgement is how large the opportunity cost (i.e. rather than buying, say, a world class defender, which we need) would be of spending that kind of sun - it's an impossible debate to settle without knowing our finances.

He's a real talent, of that there's no doubt. Though I suspect for that fee, we should be targeting the next Maddison (Bowen, Grealish (when we missed out), Maddison himself, Olise, Eze - all bought for very reasonable prices) rather than the finished product.

He'd be exciting though, for sure

This is not happening by any stretch of the imagination.

3 consecutive years of losses, worst EBITDA in the league, worst wages to turnover ratio in the league at 105%!, their owner puts in lots of money each year via shirt sponsor (£16m) and own cash (£160m over the last 5 years). Part of their model is selling players to stay sustainable. So I don't really agree with that.

I'm a sucker for English players. Just makes me feel more connected to the club. Would have preferred Kalvin Phillips to Bissouma for that reason, despite the higher price.

So yes, would be very happy with Maddison.

Leicester outgoings match more or less incomings over the past few seasons. Rodgers hasn't had that much money

He is a flash git and a bit of a bellend on social media, but at the same time often comes across as a smart guy and talks sense in interviews.

He's a class player that still has another level in him if he can stay fit and play in the right team.

Ludicrous to suggest he wouldn't improve our squad.

All valid. Maddison is their best player and they don't need to sell though. If he pushes for a move they will just set the fee high.

For context, Everton NEEDED money, but still fleeced us for £60m for their best player. Leicester are not under the same pressure so can demand more.

Nah do not see this at all. He is a decent english player I would like to have in the squad, do not get me wrong. And yeah we could do with more creativity in midfield, but how much of a fit would he really be in for example a 3-4-3?
And we most certainly do not get a discout on Leicester best english player. its like City fans thinking oh we get Kane on a discount, he wants to leave and his contract is soon running out.

I rather think its clever to look at a bit cheaper options for this role, as its not more than a rotation /system change option.

Absolutely nothing happening at that club in terms of transfers. This is their Ally Gold type person round up from the other day.

Seems like they need to raise cash before buying reading through that and want midfielders but expect Tielemans to go.

He's someone I thought we should have tried to sign a couple of years ago, when there were rumours floating around, but it completely flew under my radar that his stats have improved significantly each season since. Just looked him up and now the rumoured £60m valuation makes far more sense.

18 goals & 12 assists in all competitions last season (12 & 8 in PL). It would be great to have a CM contributing those numbers, but he did it from a CAM / no.10 role that doesn't exist in the formation we played under Conte last season.
However, while he has only played RW 4 times and RM 15 times, his goal / assist rate from both positions is actually better than at CAM, albeit across a very limited pool of games - 4 goal contributions in 4 games at RW (3 in 3 PL games) and 10 goal contributions in 15 games at RM (9 in 10 PL games), including goals / assists against both Manchester clubs.

Is it possible that Conte would utilise him differently to Leicester?
