Exclusive: Mauricio Pochettino wants £150m Tottenham squad overhaul including several new signings and departures

With Alderweireld expected to depart, Pochettino wants a new central defender and would like Tottenham to rival the likes of Barcelona for Ajax’s 18-year-old Matthijs de Ligt. Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles is seen as another option.

I like Lascelles a lot but I wonder if his passing is good enough for Poch's system. I've seen quite a few Dier derps from him when trying to play passes in risky situations.

Benitez has taught him well, I think he can step up.

He is fucking brilliant and has been captain of Newcastle since he was 22 years old. Would be an excellent signing.

Agreed, watching him last week against us proved to me that he would fit in well to our system. He was even a threat on attacking set pieces which I think is something we lack majorly from our defenders at the moment

Good on the ball. A leader at Newcastle. Yeah I'll take him. Think he is one of the best players at that club.

Won't be cheap thou.

Decent player, think Poch could help him make the next step... Certainly helps that he has experience of the league and clearly a leader.

A decent viable option this one had a excellent season in the premier league and at the right age to only get better. Commanding player strong good in the air. Decent on the ball and a leader

To go against the grain, I think he’s slightly overrated as things stand. Wouldn’t be against the signing, but he hasn’t been this impervious rock people seem to describe him as

A defender who can defend and a leader as well. He wouldn't be the worst signing and would leave plenty in the bank to upgrade in other areas. One to consider.

Like this lad a lot. Newcastle could deal with us as I’m sure Rafa want to strengthen them in other areas.
Maybe offer them 25m plus CCV on loan??
