Is it right/fair that King plays in big games?

Anyone who didn't know better would have sworn King and Woody had been playing together at CB for years. Dawson and Kaboul have tended to look as if they were introduced to one another five minutes before kick-off.

Big games need big players, and, other than physically, Dawson and Kaboul aren't big players yet.

this strikes me as a stupid question...no offence...but the best defender at the club if not the country should play whenever he feels like it...no debate and i'm sure his team-mates feel the same

At the end of the day Ledders is the best centre back we have, and when fit, he has to play. However this means it's up to Dawson and Kaboul to step up and make it so that the decision isn't as easy.

it's absolutely fair that King can play as and when - also if we do win UEFA cos they have 7 subs am sure Daws & Kab can get a medal

shame it took so long for the 7 subs rule in england - which we helped push through for next season - otherwise O'Hara would have got a medal - mind you with Chelsea's bench - who knows?

King should play whenever he wants as he's the greatest!

Maybe we should all donate some cartilage from our knee to him to get him 100% fit again...

If he wasn't so fragile (at the moment) the others wouldn't get a look in at all.

I've never had anything other than the impression that those in and around WHL have nothing but respect and admiration for Ledley, as a player and a person.

Even Ramos was raving about him when he came, and how much can he have seen?

He is the undisputed King of the Lane.

If you don't think Ledley King is the greatest defender in the history of the world, I will fight you!

We need King or Woody with any of the other defenders.

the times when we were without some experience at the back, we were comical.

they need some old head to guide them at the moment.

I think Kaboul is getting better and keeping things a lot more simple of late.

Don't get me wrong i think Ledley is head and shoulders above every defender at the club (even Woodgate) and love him more than the Bible allows

that's just it isn't it.

he is that good, and when he returns after ages, he looks like he has never been missing.

Yes. How unfair that our longest serving player, a guy who's been at the lane since he was a kid, a model professional, our Captain gets to play in the big games!

Dawson, error prone, Kaboul - Not good enough (yet), Rocha -erm...Gardner...well.

Seriously, Ledley is a fucking legend and the only injustice is that we cant play him every game.

Long live the King and his knee!

As Kendall said a while back.(I only read the front page) keeping dawson happy is hardly a priority. He's lucky he's played as often as he has with his deficiencies. I should think he'll just be grateful to get the odd game.

Thing is though, now we ave qualified for europe, the pressure is off in the league. The need to risk King has disapated somewhat. Presumably now we can let him heel a bit longer in the hope that we might possibly see him back more reularly next year.

I have worries about King to be honest, we've seen this with other players. Once the knee is fucked it is a bastard. Hope my pessimism is wrong.

No debate - King plays when he can and should always be guaranteed a place.

But I wonder if the swelling on the knee after games could be related to the amount he then drinks after we win? :)
