What's new

How many in the current team would be in your greatest ever team in your Spurs-supporting lifetime?

Those who started in the 90s mostly have vdv, carrick and modric in their engine room.

Those who started in the 80s mostly have Hoddle, Gazza and Waddle.

But both sets of generations have Lloris, Toby, King in their lineups, and either Carr/Ziege or Walker/Rose

I'm interested to hear from those who started in the 60s n 70s.

I just can't comprehend how some have omitted Hoddle from their team.

He's definitely and without any shadow of a doubt, the best midfielder ever to play for us.
Yeah but they never watched him play thats why. For those who were lucky to be old enough to watch spurs in the 80s like me, they need their heads examined if they were to exclude Hoddle.

---------------------Lloris

Walker ---king -toby -----rose

------------modric---Carrick

-------Bale ---Vdv -------ginola
------------------Kane

Subs :
Ruel fox
Jose dominguez
Jamie redknapp
Ronnie rosenthal
Toda
Bunjichevic

Game changing bench full of options. and I'm the only dude with Carrick, still underrated buy spurs fans lol

Carrick isn't underrated. Just not sure he's a starter with some of the others we have.
I think he's simular to Modric, you've got them both, most elected to pick real Madrid first choice CM over united's bench warmer.

Sadly no one but I go back to the 60's so of the only one's who shine now, Lloris, Walker, Rose, Toby, Kane

I'd have Jennings, Perryman, Knowles, King, Chivers or Greaves, or Lineker

Hard really because different style of footie back in the day, Knowles for example wouldn't work now but then ooohh that sweet left foot

Going back as far as sketchy memories of '91...

Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, King, Rose; Modric, Carrick; Anderton, Gascoigne, Bale; Klinsmann

Since 1994 (born in '89)

Lloris, no question. Toby and Rose definitely too, Vertonghen and Walker are close. Kane is in with a shout if he can keep scoring for a few more years, but definitely has stiffest competition!

Lloris
Carr-Toby-King-Rose
Anderton-Modric-VDV-Bale
Sheringham-Klinsmann

No DM but fuck it. Parker's the closest we got to a good DM and he was only at that incredible level for one season. Dier still has a lot to prove and Sandro I really think could've been in this team had his injuries not got the better of him.

I'm curious as to why you believe Kane has to score for a few more years when you have Klinsmann in your team who was only at Spurs for 1.5 seasons.

Lloris - not much competition in my life time!
Walker - massively under appreciated
Alderweireld - our new rock
King - our legend
Bale - cheating I know at LB but had to accommodate Daveed!
Modric - magician, best CM I have ever seen in the Prem
Gazza - genius
VDV - such joy
Ginola - a light in times of complete darkness
Berbatov - never seen a forward with such mastery of the ball
Klinsmann - world class, can still recall my elation / shock when he was announced

Gutted to leave out Woodgate, Carrick, Teddy, Lineker, Kane. I missed out on the privilege of watching Hoddle. Also, if I was being honest, if we were talking about the best players of the last 30 years (my generation) Sol would make it over Toby (I feel dirty for saying it but he was immense).

Lloris, for his character and importance to the current Spurs team.

I've supported Tottenham since 1986 and bar Ray Clemence we've not had anyone close in ability.

Walker for his longevity and improvement, Toby for his class and importance to the current team.

All the players that I chose were players that either individually shone or achieved something with us.

Lloris, Walker, Hughton, King, Alderwerield, Hoddle, Gascoigne, Waddle, Keane, Klinsmann and Bale.

A team full of my favorite players and not a team of great tactical structure.

Not a single one of them yet but Lloris and Alderweireld are the closest to breaking through.

Clemence
Hughton
Mabbutt
King
Ziege
Anderton
Carrick
Gascoigne
Bale
Hoddle (in behind the striker like he played at Monaco)
Lineker

Bale at LB is cheating, surely. Would you really play him there?

Call me childish or whatever you want, but i can never accept it when someone even remotely considers Judas when discussing his best ever team event though he eventually doenst pick the **** in his team. Its footballing blasphemy.

He SHOULD NEVER EVER be considered or even mentioned at all

I disliked your post not because of the team you picked but the mere mention of Judas being considered

Not childish mate - its your opinion. You can dislike my post (fully entitled to) but as a CB he was as good as anyone Ive ever seen at Spurs. It touches such a raw nerve as he was our captain and best player and did the ultimate dirty on us. If people want to whitewash history because of hatred that is fine.
