If he feels he wants out, we get that circa £40 million to reinvest, and most importantly, we actually do our homework and actually reinvest in a player that sees us improve, then it's a no brainer.

Unfortunately, our recruitment of players in recent times has been hit and miss at best.

I'm leaning towards the idea of selling, but equally concerned about us spending the funds generated wisely.

The Sun had us interested in Jesse Feckin Lingard a couple of days ago. This is exactly what I'm saying. Feck selling Winks if we end up replacing with dross like Lingard.

Amongst other things, the Tottenham squad suffers from a lack of A) midfielders who can pass, and B) home grown players.

Myself I rate Winks very highly but if there is any thought of selling him then you must get in a home grown player first otherwise 40 mill will seem like peanuts as clubs will know we are short on home grown quota and will skin us alive so to speak .
Otherwise Winks must stay and that suits me fine as I believe right or wrong that Hoijberg will help Winks as he can concentrate on what he is good at Which is linking the midfield to the attack and not be over concerned on defence .

If any, Sissoko should be the one going and not Winksy. This is an attempt from Manchester City re-fuel their HG-quota. I believe Drinkwater is available?!

I'd be gutted to lose Winks. Big fan of having youth products in the first team. Why can't someone offer decent money for Sissoko instead!

If City have been sniffing that does add context to the ITK about him seeking assurances over play time though.

£40m for a young home-grown England international is not a "premium" and I'd argue if City want him they need to pay a premium for him.

I don't think that's even enough money to guarentee getting some on par with him in. Look at the prices being mentioned for someone like Rice at West Ham and then look at £80m for Maguire and £50m for Wan-Bissaka.

If City want him make them pay over the odds.

He's been one of the three to take the brunt of folks anger over the season but now he is a no go when it comes to selling him ... This site.

If we are not loaning Skipp, i would think Winks might have been sold

Winks currently plays the PEH role in the team. We gonna need someone to back up PEH . If Winks was sold , we do not have anyone else

Agree. This is just an attempt and I'm sure Daniel Levy wont, if, let him go cheap.

It's like that with us, the fans. Love or hate either way. Winks is a good-guy-player, loves the the club and the fans loves his attitude but hates his performance and would hate to see him go to a club like Manchester City.

Why though? If it funds us strengthening the squad as a whole (another thing people have moaned about most of this fragmented season) then it's for the better long term.

Aarons and Wilson would only balance out the departures of two HG players. KWP has been sold, with Skipp and Parrott loaned out - that's three players to replace if we want a full squad (we're about to play 9 games in 20 days, so depth is essential).

PEH has filled Vertonghen's non-HG spot in the squad.

Rose is expected to leave and there's talk of Sessegnon going out on loan. Foyth is eligible for the 'B list' for UEFA competitions, but he could be leaving too.
Foyth is no longer eligible which just complicates it even more.

Only way we balance it out is if Skipp stays, Cirkin is used and then we sign, say, Wilson, Aarons and Brooks.

Let’s stick this in the ‘players we constantly berate and then yearn for the moment they leave the club’ category.

We need to keep him, he’s going to be so much better with a DM alongside him!!

I can see Guardiola turning Winks into the English Xavi.

I think Winks would be well up for this move as his game doesn't suit our current manager's philosophy.

I cant. Poch did him no favours with those comparisons.

Look we all like Winks. He's one of our own, he just a very likable guy and a very decent player. But turning down 40 million for him is as insane is when we rejected Utd's offer for Dier.

If we had endless pots of cash, then it's totally different. But we don't and if we want to improve the squad we've got to raise funds through sales. This deal will never happen as it's total made up nonsense. But if by some miracle it was true, it would be pure insanity to reject it. It would be a case of our hearts ruling our heads. We all know that to challenge for honours consistently, we need better CM's than Winks. So by rejecting the offer it would mean having 40 million sat on the bench, that could have been reinvested towards bringing in better players than those who are currently in our best starting line up.

This story is hilarious. Pep isn't after Harry Winks, and if anybody was actually crazy enough to offer us £40m for him I would be offering to take him there myself.
